| Just scratching the surface! |
|
| |
Ever notice how the best times in a relationship are the times right after you’ve made up from a fight? Similarly, while worshiping God when things are good is nice, worshiping after times of trial or suffering is downright jubilant!!
Yesterday was one of those times for me! All day Sunday I was on a spiritual and emotional mountaintop! God answered prayers and brought our church, and many relationships, through some very unfortunate circumstances last week. Through those circumstances, my spiritual eyes were opened like never before!
Sunday we sang these lyrics: Take me higher, draw me closer, pull me deeper, than I’ve ever been… and I got the overwhelming sense that I’ll never be high enough, close enough, or deep enough! As wondrously magnificent as my experiences of God have been so far, as great as this mountaintop is, I’m still just scratching the surface of all there is of him! There remains so much more!!
This truth seems to be universal too, rather than personal. How can ANY of us say we’ve experienced all there is of God? He is all power, all knowledge, all present… he is perfection!! And we, by comparison, are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, naked…
Yes indeed, this is starting to get good… and I’m only just scratching the surface!!!!
6:3 Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory!

|
| Totally!! All I can say Mike is I feel what you are saying. I dont think we can ever go deep enough or get close enough or go high enough either. But we as God's children and chosen ones need go as far as we can always digging never stopping always pulling closer, and always climbing higher cause when we stop doing all that we become content and the enemy begins working so as long as we keep moving the surface is constantly being tilled so our ground is always ready for new seeds and the weeds are constantly being uprooted as well! So keep scratching that way you keep pulling up the weeds brother!! |

Beautyfromashes - always digging never stopping - AMEN! for your comment!
Carol, I've seen that it's dangerous to say "want everything God has for me!" Could include persecution and trials... wait, you already know that! Well, prepare yourself for some MAJOR spiritual growth, dear lady! (and husband!) |

Thanks Terry! (anyone told you lately that you are remarkable?) Dave, your comment reveals that we go through those things for a purpose.... indeed! Kim, why would we only accept candy (rewards), and not that which nourishes us too? (veggies) Still, I hope your valley is a small one! Robin, that's encouragement that'll cure a few ills! :-) Thanks sister, always glad when God edifies others right along w/me! |

| Mike you know what that means right? Deeper valleys brother. But you are so right that we certainly do appreciate the good times when they come and appreciate our Heavenly Father's faithfulness when we come out of the valley. He is so good to us! |

So true..these past few months I have learned and experience so much of God, and I know that I would never have been able to get to this place unless I had gone through the many trials and hard times I did. Its amazing, because not only does He deliver you out of that pit. But after He gets out of it, He also will encourage you and lift you up spiritually to an even higher place than you were before. 2 for 1!!!..What an awesome deal!!!What an awesome God!! =D |

|
| TickleMe, you said he will "lift you up spiritually to an even higher place than you were before".... What a FABULOUS point! That really is very important to note, that's why it's called "spiritual growth"! Thanks so much for that input. |

| He longs for us to sit with with. He grieves when we don't communicate with Him.. He has soo much fresh manna to feed His children. Many people get up from the table before desert is served LOL Deep calls to deep. Only those who really, really long for Him will experience His Glory. Oh I Love Him so..... Holy Holy Holy is the Lamb that was slain. Glory Glory Glory to His name. He is real. His blood oh His precious blood....My Jesus...... |

Ever play king of the mountain as a child? All you needed was a pile of dirt and some friends and it was on. It was fun to be king. It was fun to knock down the king. But when we tired of struggling to be king then we would play together in the dirt. Then we grow up and the game changes.
It is only fun when we are on the mountaintop. How we hate getting knocked down. Or everytime we get close something happens to hinder or bring us down and we hate it. If only we could quit struggling to be "king" and "play together in the dirt" instead of "playing dirty". When we are "blessed", when life is good, we stand on top of our pile of dirt and say, "See, this is how life is supposed to be." And those who are not on top with you agree and look at their life and wonder what they are doing wrong. Paul in Phillipians 3 talks of the fellowship of His sufferings. Well, Mike, this is not a mega church by no means. There are no contests, gimmicks, or manipulation used to draw people to this fellowship. The only way to become a part of this fellowship is to suffer. And we do not get to choose how or when or how long. Why would anyone even want to be a part of this fellowship? It is so much easier to continue in "feel"owship. But in the fellowship of suffering you are never alone. Jesus is ever present and brethren are too. RIght now there are brothers and sisters hurting, needing encouragement, needing a friend. Not with answers but just to be there. In the fellowship of suffering brethren are not fighting to be king of the hill but are helping each other up the hill to the KING. Phillipians 3 (Amplified)
10 [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly],
and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death,
[in the hope] 11 That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].
Sounds like our brother Paul was scratching the surface too when he "blogged" this.
.....peace..... |

Gordon, That is one of the reasons Paul remains one of my favorite bloggers of all time! Yep, he admitted he didn't have it all, but was continually seeking and striving for more. Um, like me! Thx bro! |

Amen! and again I say Amen! Mike we will never really see until we stand before Him in all of His glory on our final day, but we will continue to catch glimpses while we wallow along in our mire. Just keep your eyes on Him and He will direct your paths.

| I believe God knows ALL of Him would be too much for any of us to handle. Yet, He knows exactly what we need and how much at any given time. I am grateful for all the times I am too weak to even scratch the surface…those are the times Jesus picks me up and carries me to the Father. |

| Amen Mike. Many have climbed to the top of Mt. Everest but who has climbed to the heights of God? No one has! We cannot scale to the highest heights of God's sovereignty nor can we reach grasp at His infinite grace and mercy. We only get tastes of both in relationship with God and how rich those experiences are as we get a taste of His divine love and majesty. |

Today i feel not good enough for good, but then I read this and believe that no matter what I have done or what I haven't done. He is still there for me. Sometimes i get so confused and don't relized that he will alway believe in me and I want to believe that he will take care of me no matter what happens. When I read how spirtial you are I know that I can be too. I sorry that I'm venting here. I just don't know where God is sending me or what I suppose to do. I'm kind of lost at the moment. I will keep praying.
Well, Thank you for being so strong. It gives me hope.
God Bless Amy-Jo |
