4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he afterward hungered. 4:3 And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.
As I did my bible study I had a full page on just this one verse. The pastors have been saying that the amount we read isn't as important as the learning we get from what we read. This is what came to me just out of this verse.
It is when we are physically weak that satan tries to get to us the most. When we are tired, hungry, lonely, sad, etc. We need to keep ourselves healthy and our spirits up. It makes it harder for satan to temp us during these times. It is no wonder it is said that "laughter is the best medicine". The way our body physically responds when we laugh has been shown to be not only good for physical health but also for spiritual health as well.
We also need to keep God's word in our hearts so that during those times that satan is trying to temp us we have "ammo" to fight back with. Even is we can't remember a particular verse word for word, if we hold on to the meaning, spirit, and understanding of God's word we still can fight and win.
Thank you Lord for your word and wisdom. |
