I am not an economics expert. I am not blogging this to place blame.
This is not about being a Democrat or Republican!
I am not posting this for political purposes. I am not saying this is the only way this problem can be resolved. It is worth listening to, in my opinion.
This is an option to the "bail out" that you may not have heard.
Listen to this and make up your own mind if you would like to get in touch with your elected officials.

A quick summary: Companies that had billions in subprime loans were feeling the effects of their stupid decision to make those loans in the first place, and practically gave them away for pennies on the dollar. But since no one wants these loans, and they've had to mark them down to market value, it has frozen the market. If we temporarily change the rule that forces companies to do that, that will free the market up.
This is one of Dave's biggest and most significant rants ever. It's an absolutely huge deal, and it involves everyone getting in touch with their congressperson before we spend hundreds of billions of dollars that we don't need to! The Govt. is promising $800 Billion dollars to various private entities! Between that and the cost of the war in Iraq estimated at $600 Billion, the Trade Deficit [money going out of our country for goods, services, oil, etc. That includes $700 Billion dollars a year for oil imports], the Federal Deficit [the govt. spending money it does not have and our national account or federal budget is not balanced], Health care costs, the mortage meltdown, the Enron & MCI fiasco, and list goes on... Corporate Welfare!
Wall Street, thy name is unbridled Greed! I saw an editorial that said we are moving into a Socialist-Democratic form of Government. When the govt. starts taking over and then running private corporations and businesses, I think that would qualify as more of a Socialists type of Govt., like in Western Europe.
One person interviewed on tv news put it this way, "They are trying to Bankrupt us [our country]..." Yep, well put. We are in a serious financial situation, and I don`t see it getting any better.

| All of this food for thought. If we ran our finances like the government does we would be bankrupt, or in jail. Lord, Help our leaders to do the Godly thing in all these situations. Thank you so much for your opinion. It's such a multi-layered problem. I don't think any ONE person or political party made this happen.
I believe Democrats and Republicans BOTH have been in power for the buildup of this result. I also wonder about what part foreign investors and foreign governments have played in this, as well as ILLEGALS--from anywhere that have flooded our country but get benefits and I think loans, too. (Yes, we are a country of immigrants--we've welcomed LEGAL immigrants) Of course, GREED is a major factor at the bottom of it, too. Greed in many places that could profit from this.
My only real comfort and hope is to remember that G-d is still in charge |

| Yes, Brenda, America has been pushing G-d out!! I know America was built on the principle's of acknowledging HIM and including HIM in every area. This is why we've been such a blessed nation. Sad to say, that we've taken HIS blessings for granted and are turning away more and more. Thanks to everyone that read this blog.
I feel we still have some rough times ahead, no matter what package for the bail out we have. I hope and pray that the economy will stabilize. I pray Americans (and citizens worldwide) will now see the need to live within their means!
May G-d have mercy on America and may America turn back to HIM. |
