Well, last night was a rough night. After I got home from the concert, I wrote a blog about the night, and when I got off the computer, I heard Leann yell from upstairs, "Chris come here." When I hear that, I tend to worry. I found out that Aubri, our 1 year old daughter was running a fever of 103! Now, for you verteran parents who are reading this, I'm sure you have endured those type of things many times, and know that it happens and is usually O.K. The thing is though, we are still "newbies" at this parenting thing, and this was the first time aubri has had a fever, and for it to be that high...well, we were pretty worried. We called the emergency room at Allegheny Regional, and talked to the pediatrician on call. She explained that really the only thing to do was to get her temperature down and just to monitor her. So, we gave her tylenol, wiped her down with a luke-warm cloth and prayed. I ran out to Wal-mart at 11pm to get more tylenol and a new thermometer as the one we were using was not as accurate as a baby thermometer you use in the ear. We called a couple of people that we knew would pray for us, and tried to get some sleep. It was a long night though as we had to wake up every four hours and administer more tylenol. At one point, we thought we might have to take her into the E.R. because her fever spiked again, after going down. I praise God though, that He brought it down and we didn't have to go. Thankfully, the fever never got to 104, and she is doing a lot better today. We pray she stays that way. She is cutting four teeth at once and two of those happen to be her molars, so hopefully, that is all that is causing the fever. The adventure of parenthood is one that we continually discover new challenges and questions as we go along, and I know many more await us. One thing is certain though, our great Father is on the journey with us, and He loves our precious Aubri more than we ever could. She is safe with Him, as are we. I thank Him for His love, and care. What a great Daddy we have! 8:15 For you did not get the spirit of servants again to put you in fear, but the spirit of sons was given to you, by which we say, Abba, Father. |
