| Am I Me? |
|
| |
5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Am I still me? Let me explain why I ask this question.
I read somewhere that every cell in the human body (with the possible exception of brain cells) dies and is completely replaced every seven years. That means that every seven years our bodies are made up of completely different material than they were seven years before.
For example, I went to Columbia, South America 28 years ago. That means all of the physical material of my body has been replaced 4 times since then. No physical part of me that went to Columbia still exists today. So am I still me?
If you answer my question with no, then who am I now? Where did I go?
But if you answer my question with yes, then I must be something non-physical, because everything physical about me has been replaced. For example, if I take a brand new car and replace every part and piece of that car — all the fenders and every other part of the body, every part of the frame, the whole interior, the engine and everything else under the hood, the power train, the axles, wheels, gas tank, tires, everything — is it the same car? Of course not! I built a totally different car.
So why aren’t I a different person? Because unlike a car, I am more than physical. My body is not me. It is my earth suit. That is why my body can be completely changed and yet I remain me. That is why I will survive my body! In fact, I have already survived my body 4 times since I was in Columbia. And I am still me! |

| I thought I was me until I read this but then I realised when Jesus came into my life I was a new creation anyway so Hmmm, perhaps I am not the Me that I thinks Me was???? LOL |

Brother Steve, The Kirby Vaccum salemen did a demostration once where he vaccumed my mattress to show me all the dust mites. He said, I was decaying, I told him from all that was in his vaccum cleaner, I probably won't live long enough to pay for the high dollar Kirby Vaccum cleaner. |

| I think that I change constantly. I'm learning, growing, aging all the time. I WANT to be changing for the better. I'm not the person I was a year ago. Life has changed me. Jesus has changed me. Becoming a grandmother has changed me. I am a woman - it my job to change! |
