| Disabilities....or are they? |
|
| |
In the past month or so, I've had several people in church come to me.....during welcome, out in the parking lot, in the store.....these are people from our church. They've heard of MS, but they don't know anything about it and want to know more. They don't want to ask in front of people, but alone with me. Last Sunday in church, after explaining it short version to a sweet little old lady who is soooo concerned about Ken, God thumped me on the head. In college I was pressed VERY hard by my profs to become a movitational speaker. After explaining to this lady, I told her that we take one day at a time.....she is a seasoned wise christian......she looked me in the face and thanked me for explaining it to her, and said "We all should remember and do what y'all are doing...take one day at a time!" I have been praying for God to use us with the MS.....and he gave it to me that Sunday. Explaining MS and living for God with it!!!! I will be talking to our pastor this week about doing this, starting with our church, and if God leads it further......amen! If not, amen too! This is part of our life and part of our testimony....we need to share. Not only will it enlighten people who don't understand it.....there are other people with various disabilities in our church, it will open doors, I pray! Please be praying for me and Ken....he's the visible display of it, hehehehe, he's my powerpoint presentation only in real life.....I am his voice, through God. |

| Praise God Cindy Cindy for your courageous walk of faith...None of us really know the hand that shall be dealt to us in life...but whatever the situation or circumstance we find ourselves in, we should always look for opportunities for give GOD praise that things are as well as they are....I commend you my sister for desiring to shed some light on you, and your husbands plight...Is it a disability......Let our Father be the judge...For He says that we can do all things through Christ, which strengthens us ;o) |

| Stushi: i have seen so many ppl with questions in their eyes....but they don't wanna ask. i have seen the look ' he's dying, oh no!".........there's one way to fix all that, and it's to speak out. And to tell them where God is in it! |

MarJay: We don't know what tomorrow could bring us, but we can be prepared to deal with it by having a closer walk with God. Is it a disability...well, I believe it's not, unless we wallow in it and it consumes us and takes over our lives pushing God out. And when you think about it in those terms, there are alot of disabled ppl in this world, whether diagnosed with something or not ;) When a road is closed, we find another route! |

| I've always said, disability is in the eye of the beholder - not the beheld. One of the greatest fears people face is the not understanding part, and when they don't understand - they back off. So using Ken as a powerpoint, he is the example of the power "point" if you get my meaning. He may have MS, but he's still Ken. I know what you're on about - and so does Stu. As for the rest, who knows? It maybe our disability, but its their dis-ability. |

They are disabilities; however you turn them into opportunities to witness the grace and mercy of our God. You already do that. God will provide! |

I think your on the right track Cindy Lou. Help them to realise that Ken, is still Ken. but he has this Ms. Sometimes the Ms has more of Ken. Sometimes Ken has more of himself than the Ms does. But don't be afraid of Ken when they see more of the Ms, than they do Ken. Ken is still Ken and needs love like anyone else. He can still hear and feel, but just can't communicate back the same as he used to. Ken is in a battle for the use of his body, that's all. Have you talked with anyone about the benefits of juicing fresh vegetables at home for Ken? |

| Good luck on your "powerpoint" presentation CindyLou. If you want any help, just let me know. And I 100% agree with what Tom has said above. Ken is still Ken. He just happens to have MS. |

Tom: Oh, we've been through the worst of it...before they started the meds 3 years ago, seriously when your spasms scare your grandkids, when you have to stop while going into a restaurant because your body spasms up, and when you have to give a presentation at work and it takes a long time for the words to come out. See, it doesn't bother us when people see more of ms, but when ppl are asking, why not use it for God ;) As far as fresh vegetable juices, they are a twofold problem.....he's diabetic and alot of veggies are high glycemic index and he cannot build his immune system due to the MS. Believe me, I'm a fix yourself naturally person.....
Stevie: Amen to both you and Tom.....he's still Ken, and for ppl who want to know that....we want to explain:) |

| I know a lady who suffers almost daily with a difficult condition, Arnold Chiari Malformation, or ACM (or simply Chiari). She's had multiple "brain surgeries", so far with little effect. It is glorious to see her praising God through the discomfort she endures. |
