8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
9:1 And as [Jesus] passed by, he saw a man which was blind from [his] birth. 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. There's two things, we need to consider here on this subject of suffering. First consider what the Apostle Paul is saying to the Roman church, that we suffer with him that we might be glorified together. There seems to be lots of folks that want in on the bless me Lord wagon, not on the bearing the cross wagon. Jesus suffered in many ways, especially when those he came to seek and save rejected him. Jesus suffered knowing that the world hated him, He went about doing good and healing all manner of sickness and diseases. Jesus suffered knowing that he was to bear all of mankind's sin of the cross.Jesus suffered rejection of the Father, when he was hanging on the cross, my God, my God,why hast thou forsaken me? Jesus prayed that the cup of suffering be removed in the garden, yet he said, not my will, but thine be done.
2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; 2:11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Jesus became obedient even unto death, even the death on the cross. God has given him a name above all names. If we suffer with him then we will reign with him .There's this misconception that being a Christ-like means that your on easy street. Job was a man of like passions, serving God with all his might. Job so lived right that God put a hedge around him. When the hedge of God's protection was taken down and Job suffered in his body and everywhere else the Devil could make him suffer. Job still praise God, and God rewarded him double for his trouble.
5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; Is there something we need to learn through suffering? |
