| LETTER TO THE EPHESIANSTHE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF EPHESUS BAPTIST CHURCHGrace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:2) October 2008 Autumn is the season for the harvest. Everywhere you look you will see reminders of reaping the benefits of hard labor. As we think about the physical harvest that takes place this time of year let us not neglect the spiritual harvest that lies before us as well. In Matthew 9:37-38 Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” There are several things to note about this passage. First, the harvest is ready to be reaped. Countless souls all around us are in need of a personal relationship with Jesus. The good news is that many are ready right now to hear the Gospel and believe in Christ. The harvest of souls is plentiful according to God’s Word, but we also see that the harvest needs workers. Too few Christians are sharing their faith with others. Let us get out into the fields to reach these people with the message of hope in Jesus Christ. It is also significant to note that the harvest belongs to God. Verse 38 tells us that He is the “Lord of the harvest”. We are called to work the field of souls but only God can save the lost. We are but messengers of His good news. God alone has the power to transform a life for all eternity. Pride has no place in the heart of a believer. The Lord owns the harvest but has graciously called us to be a part of His marvelous plan to reach our community. Finally, the harvest needs our prayers. We must pray for more workers. We must pray for the lost to be saved. We must pray that God would give us the desire to share the good news with others. The Lord has called us to an awesome assignment. Thankfully He has equipped us with the power of prayer. The harvest is ready! To God be the glory! In Christ,EphesusBAPTIST CHURCH“Where yesterday meets today,To impact eternity” |
