Why do we as Christians always search for the bad news? We feed off of it, we put up this front of sadness and unhappiness but really are not even looking for the good. There is good, so why don’t we bother to try and find it? Here are some examples:
·Every day 16,000 Muslims convert to Christianity
·The Bible has been fully translated into 366 different languages, while at least some part of the Bible has been translated into 2,212 languages
·80% of the worlds population has access to at least part of the Bible in a language they know
·In 1974, one half of the population was unreachable by the Christian church, where as today only one third is still unreachable
·10,000 Chinese people convert to Christianity daily
·About 72,000,000 Bibles are distributed yearly
·Christianity has the largest real person growth
These are just a few examples. Every day we go places we’ve never been able to reach before. Every day new people are brought to Christ. Sometimes it seems like we’ve forgotten what an awesome God we serve. We focus on how dismal things look. I think that no matter how much bad news we read and no matter how bad things are looking, I will follow God’s will with all my heart for all my life. Statistics won’t affect my willingness to serve the Lord. I believe that whatever the Lord leads me to do He will enable me to accomplish – I just have to have faith in Him.
By the way, I’m not saying that we should ignore those other facts that are more negative, or that we should pretend they aren’t there. We can use them and grow from them and turn them into good things...I just don’t think they should be our focus.
12:11 Be not slow in your work, but be quick in spirit, as the Lord's servants; 12:12 Being glad in hope, quiet in trouble, at all times given to prayer, 12:13 Giving to the needs of the saints, ready to take people into your houses.
Good word my friend...I agree with you 100 percent, for the God that we serve is truly BIGGER than all of the negative....I'm going for the good things... ;o)
I have gone into Churches and you would think there is not a care in the world and everyone is Christian, no one seemed to have any trouble.
While I can go into the Church that I attend... and listen to our Pastors radio program and you would think there is very little hope! - Extremes! Both are out of balance to me.
This last one has been on my mind for sometime, I need to go and speak to our Pastor about it. His program wears me out at times by focusing on all the evil. Please keep me and him in your prayers.
This verse comes to mind, "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me (Ps. 23:4)."
We must balance everything out by knowing Who we walk through the death valley with, and give Him the right amount of attention.
Thanks for this blog it is right in line with what was on my heart yesterday. You may be a prophet. R...
