| The church vs. I |

There was a discussion I was involved with recently where someone condemned the church because it wasn't doing enough in an area that was important to them. Putting it differently, the phrase was basically "The church isn't doing xyz and that's sad" Or "This is the problem with the church". Perhaps, the saddest example I heard was in Todd Agnew's "My Jesus" where he says "Cause my Jesus would never be accepted in my church". Understand something. I am not even arguing the points they are making. However in each case, stating the problem as they have, they have removed the responsibilty from themselves. It's an overall group problem, not my problem. Well guess what? The church and it's body is made up of a bunch of "I"s. If I don't like the way the church is doing something, why don't I pray about it and then if I still feel led, see what I can do to help the church in that area. |
