8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 8:6 For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace. 8:7 Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
I am becoming more and more aware of the difference in the religious and the spiritual people in this church world. There is a definite difference between the two and to distinguish the both is sometimes a challenge because everyone here being in “churchy” environments usually can talk a good game. The truth of the matter is who’s being real and who’s perpetrating a fraud whether we can tell or not…. Christ is the judge. So I post this not to pass judgment on anyone, but for each individual to make a self-assessment that reads this in order to understand were they truly fit. Well, what’s the difference you ask? The difference is RELATIONSHIP. A religious man can talk about Christ, but the spiritual man knows him and seeks to know more about him. They can both pray, yet it is the spiritual man that knows HOW to get a prayer through to God. The basis of what you do and how you live your life is on your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and it will reflect into your daily behavior. A religious person can go to church and sing it happy, then diss “sister so-and-so” before the service is over. In contrast, a spiritual person will sing us happy and make sure you and that individual are happy before church is over. See, anyone can use religious idioms and habits to cover up a carnal, fleshly lifestyle and even go as far as to work diligently around the church, yet most of the time the love is for the “church” and not Christ. The spiritual man loves Christ FIRST and is able to keep his commandments thus becoming a productive, holy saint; pleasing unto the Lord. No matter how much work you do in the church: sing/choir, praise team, musician, director/tress, praise dance, minister or whatever, if you walk according to the flesh, you cannot please God. Lastly my friends, you must not use the church as an emotional crutch. My point is this, just as the alcoholic uses the bottle as their escape and the drug addict needs their fix, there are those that use the church for their social and emotional “fix”. The spiritual man knows that Christ is the solution to whatever they cannot solve and through prayer he can meet their need. But if you’re religious, most of the time you pray is only when you need something from God or in distress and in need of deliverance. God is NOT a “sugar daddy”. As I close, I want to commend those of you who choose to live the life according to God’s word, thus your reward will be heavenly and spiritual. For those who choose to live a pseudo spiritual lifestyle, there are two people you can’t fool- that’s God and yourself. Stop “denying the power”; ask God to have mercy and establish a true relationship with Christ making you one powerful spiritual person. Like a mother in our church states before ending her testimony, “Pray that I live holy when you see me and holy when you don’t.”
