Although I do not intend on watching the new documentary,
Religulous, starring Bill Maher I can already determine what this film is about based on information from the Internet. From what I gather, Maher is an atheist who has taken stabs at different faiths for some time now, especially on his own show that airs on HBO. This documentary that he and Larry Charles, the director from the secular film
, Borat, (which I have also not seen) is apparently made for some "cheap laughs" according to
Los Angeles Times critic, Kenneth Turan. This should be obvious based on the genre of
Religulous being a comedy.
However, my concern isn't so much the fact that Mr. Maher and Charles poke fun at Christianity, but rather their own salvation. Our God, certainly doesn't need or even want us to defend Him, but rather pray for those who mock the Lord Jesus Christ. If these two filmmakers were real truth-seekers, they wouldn't be coming out with a documentary like this. But on the other hand, the film only further emphasizes the times we are living in; the Last Days.
3:1 But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come.
3:2For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3:3 without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,
3:4 traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;
3:5 holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power therefore. From these also turn away.
Yes, I am concerned now Mr. Maher and Mr. Charles. Not about my faith or my relationship with the Lord Jesus, but about the two of you. You have not only been blindfolded by Satan, but have also mocked the very One who has created you to have a personal (spiritual) relationship with Him. And now you have been caught up in a powerful delusion until you truly seek Him with ALL your heart; not by doing some circus sideshow film.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
So congratulations on digging yourselves deeper into judgment, but I implore you to rethink your motives and start searching for the One true God who can deliver you, heal you and make you a whole different person as He did with me. Although I know you don't see it, what you are doing with this documentary is not poking fun at Christianity, but rather Jesus Himself, the one whom I serve, and sorry disappoint you, but He is NOT a religion. He is the way, the Truth, and the life.
14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.
I will certainly be praying for both of you and those involved with making this picture.
Oh, and to sum up a question you ask on the trailer of your film in terms of what God is waiting for? He's waiting for you, so hurry up and start seeking!
