3:11 I indeed baptize you in water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and `in' fire: Matthew 3:11 These are incredible words for us to believe. What does this mean to you for the baptism that you have received?
And what about this? 1:12 we who first hoped in Christ have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of his glory. 1:13 In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 1:14 which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Do you see what I see in there?
After we heard the word of Truth, and believed, we were sealed with the Holy Spirit, which this Holy Spirit gives us the confidence that we are His and we will inherit eternal life with God in heaven.
Should we know this Holy Spirit very well, if we are sealed with Him? and lets just see what this verse says about that.....
14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever, 14:17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you. Jesus talks to the disciples about this Spirit that the world not being able to receive but them knowing Him and It will be "in" them. It's the same for us as we receive. So, my thing is this. If this Holy Spirit indwells us, let's get to know Him at a very close level.
I mean, we as believer's have all felt conviction of sin. That's what started the conversion process. We have all been led by the Spirit on different occasions I know. But is there a deeper walk with the Holy Spirit that we can enjoy, that we can walk in? How close can we be with the Holy Spirit? Proverbs 18:24 talks about a friend that sticks closer than a brother. How could any be closer than inside our hearts.
That means He goes where ever we go.
This brings us to a place where we are conscious of God all the time, since we have Him in our heart.
BUT, It also leaves us with no place to hide from God doesn't it. That might be a struggle for some, but just know the power of God that is coming toward you. In sin, He forgives, and forgiveness received brings freedom from sin. in struggles with the flesh, He gives power to overcome, And we know He is love. So His love never, ever, ever, ever stops toward us. His awesome power continues to reach out to us. We can receive an everlasting love and actually feel that love inside us from the Holy Spirit inside us that causes us not to fear Him, but to desire to love Him back and have love and compassion on every other human being in the world. The two greatest commandments......
Since God loved the world, His Holy Spirit does too. And this real love, we see through Christ death for us, I mean He took our very well deserved punishment for our own sins, not His sins, because He never sinned, He actually took all our punishment from His Father,
for us.
So we could really know love...... unconditional love.....
That is a kind of love that I cannot completely understand because it is so beyond me. But nevertheless, He did it. And it showed me true, unselfish, unconditional love. Thank you Jesus, for obeying Your Father to the end, completing the work. I know I couldn't do it, or take it. How AMAZING!!!!!!!!
I want to SCREAM FROM THE ROOFTOPS THE GOODNESS OF GOD!!!!!! 14:18 I will not let you be without a friend: I am coming to you. He doesn't leave us alone, but gives us a Friend, a Comforter, a Helper. He lives in us and He wants us to build a relationship with Him.
Please, take the time to speak to Him,
get to know Him who lives in you.
The Spirit is willing, willing to do amazing things in this world today.
If the people of God will know the Spirit in them, He can live through us continually. God will be Glorified incredibly, and we will fufill our purpose in our lives on this earth. Then, as we leave this earth with confidence, the Holy Spirit will take us to Jesus. Amen.
