Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law, that every one who has faith may be justified. (RSV)
Romans 10:4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. (NIV)
Today's verse here at Mychurch was the top one. I thought I'd put in the NIV version for you to see the difference for one thing, and for another to help explain what it means. I think this tells us an amazing fact, right here in this single verse it tells us how salvation and righteous belief can bring us not just to Christ, but to everlasting life. Now, that's an intriguing and wonderful thought, isn't it.
It reads in Romans 10:4 that Christ is the end of the law. Remember earlier in the Bible, God says "I am the Alpha and the Omega." Here it proves that truth. Jesus, who is and always was part of God, just as the Holy Spirit would be, God is the beginning, Jesus is the end. Jesus is the salvation that God promised in Genesis with Noah as he spread his covenant of a rainbow of color across the sky. That rainbow held hidden treasure within it's vibrant colors, as we see in Revelation when an angel wearing a rainbow leads us to where a throne wreathed in the rainbow's end sits, and upon that throne sits Jesus. Now, there's a powerful thought for us and the law, as brought to us through Moses, transcends into something new through Christ, and our righteousness within that law brings us into everlasting life, those of us who are living in righteousness and are believers. Living like a believer takes practice and work, so let us strive for that goal of belief and righteousness together, as friends of Jesus. This is the word and the light as brought to us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen and so it shall be. Reverend Laura A. Neff The Rainbow Minister
