Unfortunately, this is an example of commecialization of the sacred.  We see that everywhere and the church is no exception.  We are starting to look more and more like the world everyday. 

I went into a major Christian store the other day to buy a doll for my grand daughter and I was nearly floored when they told me the cost ($99).  Really!  I expected to pay about $40 but that price was insane.  I am with you (Zach and Jessica).  I find the whole thing repulsive. 

I can't help but think that as people mature in the Lord and come to value their relationship with Him above all else this will change. At least that's what happened to me. Some years ago I took up crocheting. One of the small projects attainable for me was that of a cross. I guess it was to be a bookmark. Anyway, I started out on it. Somewhere along the way a neighbord said to me, "Why don't you make me one of those in pink?" Suddenly I was saddened by the whole project and I put it away. Something deep in me said, "the cross is too precious to trvialize in this way." My neighbor never got that crocheted pink cross bookmark she wanted. At least, she didn't get it from me.

So I don't like the commercialization either. However, we can't change hearts, only God can. However, we can pray, share and set an example. At least that's how I see it :)
