There once was old man who had trouble getting around. He was in short supply of grocery so a friend told him, "I will help you. Let me finish a few things around my house and I will take you to the store." The man waited patiently. The friend came over just as he said he would and seemed happy to be able to help the old man out. But while the old man was picking out what he needed from the store, his friend up and left without an explanation. When the old man realized he was alone, fear gripped his heart. He looked all around but there was no one to help him. What would he do? Who could he call? How would he get home? He thought of trying to get home by himself, but knew the walk was to far plus how would he carry the things he was to purchase? He had trouble getting around as it was and now he had to carry heavy bags, too? "Will I have to leave without what I came for", he asked. "Oh why, oh, why did I ever leave home?" he cried. "I would have been better off had I just stayed home and went without!" I know what you are thinking, I would never abandon a friend in need. But would you? Even if it's only one person, large or small, there's people in your church counting on you. And though they may not be old or crippled, when you're not there they feel as though they are. If you say you will be there in the beginning; PLEASE, be there in the end. Someone is counting on you! Remember: We all need each other! JESUS WANTS US ALL! |
