| Would Jesus Accept Your Add Friend Request? |
|
| |
I was listening to a tech show recently where the talk was about presidential candidates on mySpace. Apparently some of the candidates have more friends than others. And some have rather interesting friends. People like Mickey Mouse and several others I would prefer not to mention. I've typically accepted people's friend requests on here, since they are rather innocous, but I've always feel slightly odd about it, especially when I never end up talking to the person. Maybe I see too many people in the real world name dropping. "Oh yeah, I know him. We're pals from way back". This is even though they've only met one time, ten years ago. Maybe I take the idea of someone being my friend too seriously, but if I do, I do so because I covet the friends I have. To me a friend is not just someone who is not an enemy. So back to the title. How many people have you met who drop Jesus's name as a bud, but who only "met" him once ten years ago. They say they're a Christian, but their actions show otherwise. Or worse, they say "Oh yeah, me and Jesus, we're buds" only to gain a measure of publicity or to sell something. Would Jesus consider and accept them as a friend? My belief is no if their heart is not right with Him. 16:7 But Jehovah said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for `Jehovah seeth' not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looketh on the heart. |

Okay, This is the best Norm blog yet! Loved it Norm. And I am sure glad you and Jesus have accepted my friend request :) Great title, you deserve a star for that alone (and the rest of the blog deserves one also.)
So the term "friend" is a relevant term for sure. I like to say "if someone is a friend of God, they are a friend of mine." I accept the request and can always choose to delete them if they step over the line. So far, so good. |

| Norm, good question, and I think most of us would say that the Jesus name droppers will not fare well when this life is over for them. I still wrestle with how to communicate this to them w/o sounding judgmental or legalistic. ~mike |

I've seen a saying, If at first you don't succeed, sky-diving is not for you. If a friend were to jump out of a plane in an attempt to sky dive and we somehow knew they weren't going to survive today, would we worry about being judgemental or legalistic in our attempt to get the not to jump? |

| By the way, I realize that last part is easy to say, but hard to carry out. ;) |

to human eyes maybe he/she will not be accepted by Jesus then again if from His Eyes maybe she/he will be saved since He is the one who choose us not we are the one who choose Him. not to mention He came to this world to save the sin ppl not the innocent one:) It's not our right to judge the ppl i think :) alright have a nice day! God bless you! |

If what you are saying is true, none of our actions matter. Therefore I can carry on judging if I want, right? :) But actions do matter. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 7:8 for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. We are given a choice in the end. I've commented on this before, but if Jesus couldn't have walked away from God, the 3 temptations Satan presented weren't truly temptations, were they?
Can I also ask, who do you think is innocent? |

| yeah in the end our action does matter indeed cuz faith no action is such a waste... but for the ppl who called em as a christian wether they are good ot not i believe it's not our right to judge em. Hey do you have myspace also :D? add me ? |

It has nothing to do with whether it's a waste. It has to do with who our master is. We will not be saved by good deeds, but if we are truly following our Lord we should still be producing them. Otherwise is it anything more than lip service? If you want to add on to the judging I have a feeling I may cover that in a seperate item later today. I'm out of time right now at least to say what I want to. |

| I have to say this is the same thing my Pastor back in the period of time from 1983-1991 would say, and I often wonder how he and his precious wife are. That Lady would sing "Blessed assurance" and if there was one person with dry eyes in the House I never knew it. It was a real presence of the Lord there, not only then but all the time. He would say" WE HAVE TO NOT ONLY WALK THE WALK ,BUT IF WE ARE GOING TO, WE MUST TALK THE TALK AND SEE OTHERS SAVED BECAUSE OF THE WAY OUR LIVES ARE SHOWING JESUS TO THEM' ...SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I STILL LOVE THEM AND TREASURE THE MEMORIES WE HAD. We now have a wonderful Pastor and Pastors Wife, and God is Blessing in many ways at our Church. I have lived in three states, and you know what, everytime a change comes into my life, no matter how, there are always people being used by the Lord and they are always there when I need them, and they always tell me the truth, what a true blessing from the Lord. I am so glad to be where I am right now. Good things are happening and will continue. I know that much amidst this crazy mixed up looking world!! diusi Jesus saves all who will come!!! |
