Do you know what God desires more than worship? Worshipers. God desires worshipers. More than the words we say or the songs we sing, God desires us, our hearts, the truth of who we are. Jesus said it this way:

John 4 23-24
"It's who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That's the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration."

Jesus is telling us that being authentic before God is when true worship occurs. Today I invite you to let go, to let go of all the roles we play, all the masks we wear, all the things that we hide behind that keep us from being fully aware of our true identity as one Beloved by Christ. Let go of the personality we think God should love and be the person loved by God. It is in these moments of letting go that God says, “Ah, there you are!”
