28 Days ... it's been a long road to this point. 28 days 'til me and 15 of my closest friends/church members (really it's the same thing) venture back to Rio Bravo. We have put in many hours of prayer and in fundraising.... most of that is done at this point, fundraising that is. Thanks so much to a loving church family that has supported us faithfully for the last 3 years. I know that first year we all thought this trip would be "once-in-a-lifetime", but the ministry there, and the closeness we felt to God, changed that. Thanks again church ... as we go ... know that it was possible due to your love and support. In the meeting yesterday Deb (one of the missionaries with ICCD) shared what a difference we are going to make in the life of the new director of the school. This mexican pastor and his wife left the environment that they were comfortable with and came to minister at the school. They are now living in part of the school building. That means that there family is somewhat broken up ... they each are using classrooms to sleep in, and have no real kitchen. We (and by we I mean as a church) get the opportunity to change that. Through your support, that dear family will have a kitchen. By supporting Ethan's Eagle Scout project we are building them a kitchen. I'm so proud of you Ethan... your Eagle Scout project is going to truly change the life of this family, and several of the resident students at MCCS. My heart was touched as I heard the story of this family that was willing to leave their place of comfort to make a difference. I would like to encourage us as Christians to be willing to do just that. I know a group that will be doing that in 28 days. We may be out of our place of comfort, but it is replaced by the comfort in knowing that you are exactly where the Lord wants you at that particular time. Church ... as Chris said yesterday... we are the body of Christ... in a very real way we are called to physically be Christ to this world. In the words of a song by Casting Crowns But if we are the Body Why aren't His arms reaching Why aren't His hands healing Why aren't His words teaching And if we are the Body Why aren't His feet going Why is His love not showing them there is a way There is a way Thanks for your help in doing just that. I pray that each of us takes the opportunities that God gives us to be used of Him in very real ways to spread His love. ¡adiós! |
