The scripture for today says that you should be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you... When I think of defense I think of having to "defend" why you believe in the hope that Christ gives. May be even putting your belief on trial. Or it may make some think that it is defending a position of having hope in Christ like this great debate one person taking one side, to persuaded for believing in this hope that Christ gives. Usually in both these views, someone is not so gentle, or shows reverence. So just how do we defend when someone calls us into account for the hope that we have in us? First we think how would someone who reverences Christ speak, how would they express there absolute belief in the hope we have? Well with love, gentleness, and respect, without compromise. We speak from our own experience, how the Lord Jesus Christ gave us hope when there was none. How the love of God touched us and we came into relationship with Him rather than being separated from Him. How that has impacted our lives and has given us hope, and life eternal. When we do this we make the best defense because we live the love of God out in-front of those who would call us into account of the hope that is within us. We share the Good News, proclaim Christ, defend our hope, all the while reverencing Christ as Lord. 3:15 but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence; |
