This Is Not What I Prayed For!

Lord this is me, in the prayer closet again

I think You made a mistake my friend

I didn't pray for this, it was not on my list

Please can You make it go away.

I looked at it from all directions you see

I left it at the altar can't comprehend this for me

It's the wrong size and color for my life

It's only going to cause me a lot more strife.

I won't take it home, It won't fit in my car

I don't even like how it looks so far

Give it to someone else, maybe it's on their list

This is not what I prayed for You really did miss.

I'm going back on my knees to pray

I hope you listen careful to what I have to say

My prayer list includes Peace, Love and Joy

So, please don't give me what I did not ask for.

This thorn in my side, is for the roses not for me

I'll keep praying until You set me free

We had this talk before another time in my life

This isn't what I prayed for, not with all my mite.

I'm on my knees, it seems forever and a day

I know You're listening to what I have to say

I don't sleep at night, that's not news to You

I thank You for patiently waiting until I am through.

After all the venting, after all the pleads

You keep giving me extra time down here on my knees

I am here listening to what You have to say

This is not what I prayed for, and, Oh by the way.

Lord you keep giving me extra time with You

I am here listing to what You have to say, Oh please

Lord hear my prayer.

This is not what I prayed for.

The Peace, the Joy You promised

Is it hidden in the clouds?

I'm down here shouting and talking really loud

This is not what I prayed for.

What do You want me to say?

We have this conversation everyday

I'm not going to stop praying, I'm not giving up

Because when this is all over I'll have another cup.

A cup filled with Blessing

My prayer of Peace, Love and Joy

It will be running over with what I've been praying for

So today I'm Thanking You,

You have always seen me through

More Peace, More Love, More Joy

Thank You God, Thank You God

THIS IS WHAT I'VE PRAYED FOR.

Today (10-19-08) at our 9:30 church service we laid prostrate in prayer.  It was my first time publicly doing this and it was an awesome prayer experience for me.  Healing and Knowing My God will Answer My prayers.
