We were blessed to be able to listen to Pastor Ronnie Floyd yesterday. His sermon was just for us, isn't it amazing how God does that? It was based on Isaiah 40
40:28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? The everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary; there is no searching of his understanding. 40:29He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength. 40:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 40:31 but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.
What caught my heart in this sermon, was him talking about eagles. They don't continually flap their wings to fly, their wing span is made for soaring from the lift of the wind. Eagles fascinate me, because we have them here, they are an awesome sight to see.
God's word says that they that wait for God, will mount up with wings as eagles. This world bogs us down, and we began to flap and flap our wings, trying to overcome. We become weak, tired and weary in all that human flapping and nothing changes. Yet, we have our Lord, the everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, who does not faint, nor is never weary. And He tells us to wait on Him......just wait.....quit flapping.......wait.
When we quit flapping and wait, we'll soar like eagles, in God's timing. And the best part is that He's the wind under our wings, holding us up, allowing us to soar. To be held up by a loving God, soaring above all that bogs us down in this world.....is just awesomeness to me.
Lord, I'm waiting with the calm assurance that I will soar with You!
Awesome Love the song and we need to learn to fly like an eagle.. Thank you for the reminder.. Where I live about 10 mile along the interstate we have a place that the Eagle lives, We get to see the babies and the whole Flock of em..There maybe about 25 nests there.. Will try to find a link for that to share.. Thank you for posting this,
Angela: I tried to find the whole sermon last night.....but again, this is the part that God laid on my heart heavily...... we gotta wait, which is the hardest thing for me to do, lol......gonna quit flapping......and wait :) love ya
Well beings as I'm the only bloke here, I'm sticking up for Ken! When you give him his shot tonight, he'll sure be soaring like an eagle. Seriously though, we all get into a flap from time to time, so we got to be like the eagle and learn to soar above the storm - instead of the storm soaring above us.
