| What Other People Think? |
|
| |
4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. Many people are concerned about what other people think about them. The problem with this concern, however, is that most other people are far to busy to think very much about them at all.
So there is really no need to worry about what other people think about you. Other people are too focused on their own problems, fears, insecurities, and heartaches to think much about you. And besides that, they are worrying about what you think about them. They just don’t have time to think about you.
I like Paul of Tarsus’ attitude about what other people thought about him. He said: “It is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by men’s judgment.”
What really counts and impacts your life is not what other people think about you, but what you think about yourself — and that is something that you have complete control over. Are you living the kind of life that makes you feel good about yourself? Or the kind of life that makes you feel guilty and condemned? That is your free choice!

So true, Paul. It is God's opinion of us that matters -- not our opinion of ourselves or other people's opinion of us. |

When it comes down to it, I usually do or say what I want. Usually I stick my own foot in my mouth or regret my actions. So the moral of my story is that I don't need others to tell me what they think, I can do it all by myself.
I must have missed what Paul said, but I like it now that I've been reminded. |

Hey Steve this is truly a great blog...There are a lot of people that loose sleep worrying about what somebody else thinks of them...this is foolishness...Personally, I'm more concerned about what GOD thinks about me...and HIS WORD tells me what HE thinks about me...If people don't like me...that's fine...If people don't like what I stand for, which is the WORD OF GOD...that's fine too...GOD LOVES ME....and I SLEEP REAL GOOD...EVERY NIGHT....Resting in the Arms of my Lord...Say what you want...ALL IS WELL WITH MY SOUL....I KNOW WHO I AM....but more importantly....GOD KNOWS WHO I AM.....LOL..LOL
Nice blog Steve.....Nice blog ;o) |

| I like that. Somebody once said that it's really none of my business what people think of me, that's their affair. |

I use to be one of those people who worried about what people thought about me/us. Now I only care what God thinks. Only what I do for God will Last...Amen

| It's seldom we get to hear what others think of us. But on the rare occasion that it happens to me, I am troubled by others' quick and cursory impressions. People me as a nice though boring person, harmless, a little eccentric...etc. Fortunately I know that I am less nice and a bit more interesting than I am given credit for. It's frustrating. I try not to think about it much. |

Lovely, Steve! Great comments, too. Here's another thought: You say, "It is God's opinion of us that matters." What if we think God has the wrong opinion? Can we really know what God thinks of us? (Sorry, if I sound like I flunked Theology 101! :0 ) |

| Good question. As you read the Bible God reveals His love to all mankind and to you personally. For God so loved Bookish that He gave His only begotten son. That is what He thinks of you. |

Whoa. Now I really do feel like I flunked Theology 101! Seriously, though, it's one thing to read or tell others the original, "For God so loved the world;" quite another to hear yourself referenced. It sort of knocked the wind out of my sails. In a good way. And it opened my eyes to something and made me go back and change a paragraph in my book. (I had a feeling I shouldn't publish too soon!) Thanks so much, Steve! |
