| Day 50 |

The reading for day 50 was Isaiah 14:1-28:29.
14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! The NIV and NASB both translate Lucifer as star of the morning. Is there anything in the text that actually implies that this verse is speaking of Satan and not just the human ruler in view. I would love to hear (read) your thoughts.
God is almighty and in the book of Isaiah He makes it plain that He is alone in His power. 14:27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul [it]? and his hand [is] stretched out, and who shall turn it back? This is of course a rhetorical question because the obvious answer is...no one.
16:9 Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen. 16:10 And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in [their] presses; I have made [their vintage] shouting to cease. This is a very interesting couple of verses because it seems, unless I am reading this wrong, that God is weeping over something that He has caused. "I will water thee with my tears...for the shouting...is fallen...I have made the their vintage shouting to cease." It seems like God didn't want to punish them but had to because of His holiness. What say you?
Can anyone explain to me verses 19-25 of chapter 19?
25:1 O LORD, thou [art] my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful [things; thy] counsels of old [are] faithfulness [and] truth. What do you think of God's "counsels of old" that follow this verse?
I want this to be said of the church today. 26:8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of [our] soul [is] to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.
28:29 This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, [which] is wonderful in counsel, [and] excellent in working. Now go back and read this chapter and see what He is talking about. |
