As some of you may know two of my kids went on a missions trip to Africa. Everyday I prayed for their safety more than anything else. One day God asked me why I pray for their safety so much. I responded because I love them so much just like you love your Son. Good answer He said. Then He told me that when He sent His Son Jesus on His mission, He was concerned about the outcome and what it would accomplish as much as He was concerned about His Son. His children on this Earth had no other way to the Father but through Jesus
I asked my son Paul what if something tragic happened along the way while you were serving the Lord. I thought He might respond something like this. (I know if we pray God won't let anything happen to us.) Instead He said something like this. I know I can't change Gods plan. Whatever happens will work for the the benefit of all.
Bottom line. I am discovering more and more life has very little to do with what I desire and more to do with what God wants. I was happy to have this conversation with Papa and freely tell Him the desire of my heart. (I wanted my kids back safe and sound) He understood but also helped me see the bigger picture. John 17: 20-26 is such a big part of my life. Jesus desire for us is to be one with HIM AS HE IS WITH HIS FATHER. I think if most people would really meditate on that scripture more, and look deep into what it was saying we would have to repent of our selfishness. If we are to be one with Him somewhere along the line we really have to give up our selfish desires.
On another note and this may hurt a little bit. We have started a little home church in our small town. We have no name other than the church that meets in Hanover. My kids went with an Assembly of God team on this trip. Wonderful people. They accepted my kids as their family. We work with some Baptist in some local outreach and they accept us as family. Others in the Prophetic camp are apart of our family as well. It is time to put away our selfish causes and start gathering under the name of Jesus. This country sees us divided. So many denominations. They need to see us working together as the BODY OF CHRIST. The truth is that there are some in each denomination that pridefully think they are ahead of the others. Maybe they don't even realize it. I have struggled with that at times. Here is what I think would be an interesting question if God should ever ask it. Would you lay down you denomitation to come follow me? Now I'm not saying we can't follow Christ in a denomination. What I am asking is what is most important and what are we willing to sacrifice in our own lives to put Jesus first.
Welcome home team. You did great, many know our Lord because of your desire to be one with Christ. Let us pray for unity in the Body so we can effectivly demonstrate the love of our Lord.
