| Even the moments |
|
| |
Periods of time when I am intimately connected with God, fully aware of his awesome presence and grandeur, living in harmony with his Word, are without a doubt the most powerful, and peaceful, times of my life. Nowadays I feel as though I spend most of my time in this place.
But I also have those moments. Moments when my mind and heart are far from the Lord. Startlingly, astoundingly far from him, considering how profoundly beautiful my times of intimacy with the Father can be. And shockingly far, considering who he is and what he has done, for me, personally.
So I struggle, trying to figure out how I can give the Lord every moment of my life. How can I ensure that in my walk with God, my heart and mind won't stray, even for just one tragic moment??
Perhaps if I can just remember that there isn't a single moment that goes by, that God isn't focused on me. There isn't a single moment that my life isn't deeply affected, and blessed, by his gracious love for me. Much like a parent marveling over his growing child...
5:21 For a man's ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and he watches all his paths. |

Honey... you are makin me think!!
Life comes at us... we pray and memorize scripture and train our thought and pray for our emotions and tongues to be under control, and then life happens. In one moment, your life can change. A diagnosis from a doctor, an accident... a phone call at 2:00am., an officer at your front door. Life will happen and as it happens, you and I and everyone, will have our moments. And then we call, or scream for God as we drop to our knees. We have moments and God takes over. Thus, our dependency upon Him grows, and will continue to grow, until He call us Home. |

| Well it starts with a pure heart. But, when you finally figure it out let me know. I can give the platitudes and the Sunday School lessons and all I can figure out is surrender to the Word of God and to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, but as much as I try to kill the flesh and deny it and starve it, it comes back so, it is like the movie "Ground Hog Day" I am like Bill Murray doing it over and over again until I get it right. |

| Wow Mike.... for me it all comes down to these simple words... "there isn't a single moment that goes by, that God isn't focused on me." I am in awe over this... |

Joey, "and then life happens." That's what I'm talkin about. Maybe more time is what's really needed, so the old man can continue to die his slow death, and the new creation can behave more and more like one.
Todd and Terry, thank you, you guys identify. We are in this together, like it or not. (And I happen to appreciate the company.)
Robin - that thought overwhelms me too!!
Rebekah, so glad to see that you are with us, and typin in pink too!
Dan, praise God I am sealed and secure. But we can stumble, and bring the consequences of sin on ourselves. However, all is right and good as long as we remain "in Christ", step for step.
PT, if I doubted that I should post this (and I usually do), you have erased those doubts. Thank you! |

| Awesome verse, My Friend.
5:21 For a man's ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and he watches all his paths.
Proverbs 5:21 RSV
Scientists search DEEP into the cosmos... searching for the beginning of all things. And once in a while one thinks he is close to finding the end... or, that point where it all began. But only to find more universe to peer into. The truth is that if you ever could find that place... there you would find God. Imagine yourself there, at the beginning... and think of how LONELY it must have been.
Gen 1IN THE beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.
2The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep.
It's just you my friend... and now imagine yourself with the power to create ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you wanted. Think of the futility of creating anything that did not have the ability (capability) to love you. HEAR IS THE KICKER,... Its got to love you "itself", because if you MAKE it love you... 'what is that'? AND, You can reveal only as much of yourself as "it" will allow you to... remember, you can't cheat or take short cuts... Because you'll know it. Its got to be real love. You can't even make it easy for them. You'll know the ones that love you because they will: TRUST IN AND RELY UPON YOU. Isn't that true? Ok,... Now consider this: Mat 7 13Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it.
14But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it.
This is the sad truth... But those that do enter... They are yours... They love you and you know they do. What a prize... Now, for all of eternity... You're not lonely and its REAL LOVE. OK, now read this passage and think of the measure of intent... Hope... And compassion of our Lord doing this.
5:21 For a man's ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and he watches all his paths.
Proverbs 5:21 RSV

Praise God for his MERCY and GRACE..... He knows our heart, he knows the struggle, and he continues to prod, poke and push us in the right direction. The flesh is weak but our Faith and Love for our Father is stronger. It is like a circle and we continue to come back to the beginning, standing on our Faith. We are His and that is reaffirmed by coming back to our Father. STAND (have you noticed that is my favorite word????) FIGHT for what you know is true. We are not infallible, we are human.
Father, forgive us for our fraility and continue to bring us closer to you. Our flesh is weak, but our hearts and mind are determined to do Your will. We are so grateful for your strength and humble to have been chosen by You to do your will. Continue to make me hungry for Your Word, for in your Word there is strength. Touch us Father and remind us we are not alone and that you are there with us every step of the way... Praises, Honor and Glory to you. In Jesus name -Amen
I think we have moments when we are like Job - Look at Chapter 11 verses 1-20. I love to read Job in The Message Bible..
Start at Verse 13: Still, if you set your heart on God and reach out to him, if you scrub your hands of sin and refuse to entertain evil in your home, You'll be able to face the world unashamed and keep a firm grip on life, guiltless and fearless. You'll forget your troubles; they'll be like old faded photographs. Your world will be washed in sunshine, every shadow dispersed by dayspring. Full of hope, you'll relax, confident again; you'll look around, sit back, and take it easy. Expansive, without a care in the world, you'll be hunted out by many for your blessing. But the wicked will see none of this. They are headed down a dead-end road with nothing to look forward to - nothing.
HE KNOWS OUR HEART - PRAISE HIM

Our minds! They just go go go all time. If we direct our thoughts to Him as an ongoing communion fewer and fewer of the moments get away from us |

| Great message you brought out many good points. I agree with what Pastor Tim. You reminded me of the importance of "thinking on those things that are noble" (Phil 4). Blessings to you brother. |

| I know those moments or rather minutes in my case and they break my heart. When I'm back in Him I wonder how ever went into myself when as you wrote it is "the most powerful and peaceful times of my life". Perhaps we have those moments in order remind us of how glorious He is and to keep us striving to die unto ourselves. I have noticed during these times that whatever is not good in me is being weeded out of my heart. |

Donna, you triggered a thought. Perhaps if there weren't moments of straying mind/heart, pride would set in? Just a thought. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks Dave! Pastor Tim is a good one to agree with!
Amen Ken!!!
Bubbles, they do that, don't they? And as someone once said, when they stop going, it means you're dead! lol
Mary, you've written a blog within a blog! Great thoughts sister. Father, forgive us for our frailty....indeed!
CindyLou, amen! He is faithful, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger! Abounding in love! Sort of makes me regret even more the times my mind/heart wander. (Reminding myself of the great hymn, Come Thou Fount of Ev'ry Blessing)
Destiny, thanks so much. Sometimes a picture (or image) really is worth a thousand words.
Megan, oh yes I do, I'm just like you sister.
Preston, that is an awesome comment, I'm still taking it in. |

I think in a way we all struggle in how we can give the Lord each minute of our lives. I know I stuggle the most when my will takes over , especially some days of late when Dr's can;t figure out or dont take the time to figure out what is going on with me. I DO KNOW in those times of doubt, minutes or a hour ( usually no more then that ) When I walk closer to God and turn to the Word, I am once again walking close with Him!
I DO Pray one day I am walking each minute with Him, but untill then , it is progrss NOT profection as when that happens I WILL BE WITH HIM!
