"Peace, Be Still"
Matthew 4:35-41 NKJV
On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

I love that passage too. For me, it almost hypnotic because I use it as a breath prayer. |

I do too Todd:
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. I really needed this tonight. I ran across it on another message board and felt compelled to share.

| It is so hard to be still sometime, but I do know there is a blessing in stillness-quiteness and praise God the storms in my life have to obey Jesus! |

Amen Starr!
Those storms do have to obey.
I often find myself going 90 miles an hour even when I am sitting completely still. In a way though, that can be a good thing. I could easily get off track otherwise. I have set my hands to the plow and I will not look back. You know, it's hard to make a U-turn when you're going 90 miles an hour. In order to start going the other direction one has to slow way down and almost come to a stop. There is something to say about momentum.
I realize my reply was way off topic because we do indeed often need to be quiet to hear that still small voice. Maybe I'll just roll up the windows and turn off the stereo!
Thanks for the comment. |

| When I'm Still, I'm Listening. It's new for me to be still and God is really dealing with me and I love it. This Storm...His Storm. This battle is not mine, It is the Lord's |

Michael,
This is excellent. I was about 51-years old before I ever considered rebuking storms and walking as Jesus did. The first time I did it, I was not successful. In fact, it rained harder :-(. The second time I did it, it took about 5-minutes before the wind slowed down and the rain stopped pouring. The last time I did it was during the hurricane (the one that came up through Ohio!). I rebuked the wind (there was no rain) and I told it not to blow so hard (it was blowing my "Welcome" mat off my front doorstep).
The result of that last rebuke was phenomenal. The street our house is on was barely touched by the wind but the very next street up from us looked like a freakin' war zone. There was debris everywhere. Lawn furniture was blown into the street, tree limbs were down, but our street looked the same as before the storm (minus electricity).
The power was out because the wind blew trees into power lines on another block. Next time, I'll rebuke the wind over a larger area :-)
I only know to do this because I watch my Savior doing it. If He is our example, then we ought to live as Jesus lived. 2:6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. Thank God for Jesus! Rob |

Awesome Rob!
I love to hear real-life stories about people actually walking in and acting out their faith.
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

| Fear not my dearest Cheryl. The Lord of lords has his mighty hand upon your life and the life of your daughter. And his desire is, above all things, for you to prosper, even as your soul prospers! |

| I came back to reread this and listen to the song. Today is court for Ashley as she testifies against her dad. She is not doing well and has a counseling appt tomorrow. Also, this morning is a meeting with me and the owner, manager and who ever else for my third job interview with a major medical company to do their marketing on a new cognitive retention therapy. Would you pray? God has us covered. I am praying Psalms 91 over us. |
