Amen, Sister.

Ephesians is a good read.  By the way, I do like The Message version better in this case.  That's not always true.

I love the way the Holy Spirit works, in that we can learn different things using the Various Versions of the Bible.  Just goes to show the power of the Word of God.  Have a Blessed Day!

We talked about that in our triad (discipleship threesome) yesterday... just how remarkable the Word is.  How it can speak to you, again and again, in so many ways... how the same passages, can speak to the early church, Luther, and contemporary Christians -- three totally different political and cultural contexts -- with one voice, one truth -- and be precieved relevent.

Try that with a King novel.  You might read more than once to refresh the story.  Does it adapt to your situation?  Does it change you?

There is remarkable power in the Living Word.

Oh, I do like this - I had not read the Message version for a long time.  But I did write out the NRSV version, putting in the names of my children as I pray for them.

The Message is not a "version" or at least NOT a translation.

So, to simplify things I would add the simplest translation. As usual the KJV uses the least words and most eloquent English, again surpassing the modern constructs with only 122 words. The NIV uses 132 words and the "Message" paraphrase a whopping 175 Words. That's simpler? Or does it obsfucate?

That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen
