| Forgotten by God? |
|
| |
4:13 But rejoice in so far as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. There are times that I have felt like God just isn't there. He doesn't answer my prayers, or at least not the way I want them to be answered. I can't feel His presence at some of the most difficult times. I grow weary and plead to Him for help, and I continue to be weary. Am I forgotten by God?
Fortunately I have enough reserve that I can dig down into my past experiences, and remember times when I thought that God had forgotten me, and wasn't working in my life. Later on though, I was able to see how He had worked, not always the way I would have wanted Him to, but He was there working for me. People that have not been Christians for very long, need to have some of the older people of the church or family that have been Christians a long time to turn to for guidance and help in times like these. Still, I am sure that even experienced Christians have times where they struggle with their faith. It is all a part of the growing process.
13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, "I will never fail you nor forsake you."
There is a song sung by Barlow Girl that could be my theme song, called Never Alone, and it goes like this...
I waited for You today, But You didn't show, No, no, no.
I needed You today, So where did You go? You told me to call, Said You'd be there, And though I haven't seen You, Are You still there?
Chorus: I cried out with no reply, I can't feel You by my side, So I'll hold tight to what I know, You're here, and I'm never alone.
And though I cannot see You, And I can't explain why, Such a deep, deep reassurance You've placed in my life.
We cannot separate 'Cause You're part of me, And though You're invisible I'll trust the unseen.
Chorus: I cried out with no reply, I can't feel You by my side, So I"ll hold tight to what I know, You're here, and I'm never alone.
Even in the darkest times, when we can't feel God with us, we have to trust what we don't see, and hold tight to what we know, deep inside, that God is here with us, every step of the way. Every tear we cry does not fall without His knowledge.
8:28 We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

| Deb, that's a wonderful assurance that God is always here, it's always us who wander away. I often feel as though God is distant, but my heart deceives me easily! (Jer 17) ~mike |
