3:1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. What are you daily downloading into your mind and emotions? If you watch, listen to, or read downer material then you are programming your mind and emotions to be down, depressed, and discouraged.
Downer downloads consist of negative, self-destructive, vulgar, violent, rude, immoral, and disrespectful material. Our media is loaded down with downer downloads. But downer downloads aren’t free. They cost you your peace of mind, your self-respect, your happiness, and your self-control. Now that’s a real downer!
If your life is being driven down by downer downloads, the process can be reversed. Just like a computer, the material downloaded into a human mind drives a person’s outcome and behavior. So if you don’t like the way your life is coming out, consistently change what you are putting in.
Stop devouring downer downloads and begin to deliberately devour delightful and uplifting downloads. Spit out sickovision and begin to munch much on motivational and inspirational books, tapes, and DVD’s instead. And of course the #1 inspirational book is the Word of God.
GIGO — garbage in, garbage out — sums it up. Your mental and emotional state is nothing more than the result of your choice of daily downloads. Personally I prefer GSIGSO — good stuff in, good stuff out. Whew! Uplifting downloads are awesome! |

| Good advice Steve. My wife would tell my oldest son to go to bed with peaceful music each night. He often had trouble falling asleep and would listen to rap, among other things. He said whenever he slept with the peaceful stuff he would wake up in a good mood. |

Hey Steve, you knew that you would get one, didn't you? Might as well be from me. Is this a call to action? To stand against those things that we know are evil? I agree that we can get a negative overload and lose our sight to the fact that God is greater and more powerful than these evil things. But that doesn't mean that the only remedy is to ignore the bad stuff and not take some action against it. Maybe if we get to the point where we can't take it anymore (negative overload), we will take a call to action, instead of locking our doors, pulling down the shades and putting on some lullabies. Who said that this Christian walk should be easier than what Jesus himself had it? Milk or meat, which? |

| R: The first thing we must do to influence society, is not to be swept into it's self-destructive and evil tides. |

| Jerry: That is a great example. Our choice of what to listen to effects everthing about us, even our sleep. |
