You're all worthless and weak!

Yes, that title is a little catchy and crude!  But I think it, if I get this right, Paul is saying here that we should not be afraid of our weaknesses and inefficiencies because he has us covered.  Covered in his grace so that we don't have to fear the unknown.  I have a friend who has experienced an unwelcome family in her home for almost a year.  She is an extremely strong Christian but over the course of the year she has expressed tons of fear and anxiety over these unwanted guest/squatters tearing into the fabric of her life.  I noticed that fear gone this morning when we spoke.  She seems strong now even though the situation may or even may not be changing for the better.  She seems resolute in turning it over to God, she's done all she can to be a Christian example of how they can pull their lives together, even though they seem to have done nothing to help themselves.  I feel better after our talk today and to tie this back to today's scripture, if she can feel strength through placing her trust in God, how easy it is for me to see that my fears and weaknesses are just as easily turned over.  Lately, I've experienced nothing like this.  We are all weak before God and should give up our troubles to him in our prayers, how easy this is and how comforting.  Sorry for the harsh title but I love that stupid Animal House movie and I couldn't resist.


12:9 but he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I have had to turn things over continually to God and it's been a hard lesson to learn that "...the weakness of God is stronger than man's (or woman's - smile) strength" (I Cor. 1:25)  And, along with letting go of my best strengths to let the God of the universe do things for me in his timing and in his mighty power, it's been essential to trust him fully that he will do what needs to be done and that he's working it all for my good.  The verse I have had to hang onto was, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  ~Romans 15:13 (NIV)

Holding onto joy and peace, trusting that this Monday will bring all I am hoping for...

Yep, in ourselves, that is in our flesh, we are completely worthless and weak...good thing we are no longer in the flesh, but in the spirit.  His power, my weakness.  His life manifest through weakness so that it can clearly be seen to be Him and now us...especially by us.  :-)
