| The time of the apostle Paul's departure is at hand and Paul knows that he is going to have to lay down his life for his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ but Paul had requested some things and one of those was that the books and especially the parchments. So here is a man that is about to die for his faith and he is requesting that the scriptures be brought to him. Friends, brothers, pastors, sisters in the Lord, there will never be a day that the Word of God should not be proclaimed. What a wonderful thing that Paul requested the Word Of Life before he had to give his life. It does not matter how many times one has read the Bible or how many years one has studied it--we need it up to the very day when the Lord calls us home. Jesus said that heaven and earth will pass away but my word shall not pass away. 4:13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring [with thee], and the books, [but] especially the parchments. |
