Becoming Like Him, In His Death?

3:10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

What does it mean to become like Him (Christ Jesus) in His death?  Do you Love God?  Do you love one another?  Would you die for Him?  Would you die for anyone?  Jesus died for you and it has something to do with love. 

It has something to do with dying to self also.  Do you love one another enough to give your life up for the benefit of the other.  Jesus said that in trying to save our own life we would lose it. What is the connection between love and death?
 
The Amplified Bible renders the word love as, "that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God's love for and in us". The King James version renders it as (charity), but the origanal Greek word used here was "Agape". This word was always used when referring to the way God loves.

The only way you and I can love this way is to view the world and each other from Gods' view or reasoning. Gods view of us... or, from the way God looks at us... He was willing to die for me and now I have to decide if I am willing to do the same for Him and others.
 
Let's think about these things today and ask the Lord to help us understand... change us... replace our carnal ways with His likeness.

 Man you are right!!! we die daily as Paul stated that we resist the flesh and we do this only by God's Grace through us. I have been to to edge of many cliffs and stepped back, this disobedience is a sad thing and i repented many times over this but God is always there with forgiveness, and comfort. Praise Him for Loving us so much Preston. when I was a baby christian i never recognised these opportunities and now that i am more mature i see these leaps of faith as an opportunities to grow in Faith imparted by Grace.  there are examples of these times in all of our daily interactions and thoughts. thank you for you word.
