Tomorrow the election will finally be over. Based upon the results there may be "political unrest" in many areas. Some cities have increased their police forces to handle such instances. As Christians we must ask ourselves are we prepared for the outcome? Are we prepared to accept the outcome either way? Are we prepared for what may follow?
For the first time in my life I can say that I am uneasy about going to vote alone. I don't know what to expect. There has been so much hate and judgement thrown around that people are no longer worried about being "politically correct" and respecting the thoughts and opinions of others. It is in times like this that we must pray without ceasing.
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Heavenly Father, we come before you on this day and we thank you for your goodness, your grace, your love, your kindness and your mercy. Lord we thank you for your Word which is a lamp for our feet and a light for our path. We come before you today praying for a peace that surpasses all understanding. If we have said or done anything against our brothers and sisters in You we confess our sin and we thank you for your forgiveness. Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil, for you are with us; your rod and your staff, they comfort us.
We stand upon You as our Rock for we know that You will never leave us nor forsake us. We know Father that everything has been predestined according to the fulfillment of Your will. Father we pray that we will have mustard-seed faith and be able to put aside the things of this world and praise you regardless of the outcome.
Father we pray that we shall stand as beacons in this world of darkness and that we shall not glory in our flesh. We pray that when people see us they see Your goodness, Your grace, Your love and Your mercy shining through. We pray that we will draw those who are lost unto You.
We pray for Senators McCain and Obama that no hurt, harm or danger will come their way. We pray for those who have already plotted and planned to cause unrest and we thank you that you have quickened our spirits to pray for them and put an end to the violence before it begins. We know that there is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace. Your Word says that there is a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. We pray that we may we be able to discern the time.
You said in your word that life and death is in the power of the tongue and we speak and bring life into every situation that we may encounter. We pray that we shall not stand in judgement of one another but that we will love one another.
After all has been said and done we pray that we are able to offer up a sacrifice of praise for we know that your love will never fail!
In Jesus Name we come humbly as your children and we thank you! Amen
1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (NKJV)
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
