| Another leader will come and go (2008 – 20??) |
|
| |
6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Our pastor read this passage of scripture a couple of weeks ago, noting that few scriptures put earthly power into proper perspective like this one!! After a 52-year reign, the once mighty King Uzziah of Judah died a humbled death as a leper (2 Chron 26:20). Died, as in limited, finite, frail. Yet in stark contrast, Isaiah saw the LORD, exalted on his eternal throne! Furthermore, he goes on to describe the song of the great seraphs.
6:3 "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."
Holy x3 for emphasis!! Nothing even approaches the holiness, power, and might of God! We serve a mighty God, a glorious King!! He is worthy of ALL our worship, ALL our trust, ALL our love and adoration!!
I am at complete peace as Laura and I look forward to going to the polls together, to vote for another frail human leader. Whether the leader elected this year is who we picture as God’s man or not, I know this leader too will eventually die, while the Lord will continue to be exalted on his throne.
We who trust in this God are the last people in the world who should be getting angry at one another, the media, or unbelievers who predictably vote with their wallets and 401K’s. We are the last people in the world who should be losing our joy over a political process beyond our control (but within God’s). We are the last people in the world who should be allowing politicians, parties, and platforms to split our churches and fellowships, the very residences of the eternal Holy Spirit.
The bible teaches us to be good citizens (Matt. 22:21; Titus 3:1), so we’ll be doing our duty and voting. But regardless of who wins, our true citizenry is in heaven with our eternal King. So we will vote joyously, reminding ourselves that many more earthly leaders will come and go after this, but the Lord will reign forever!

I'm voting early in the morning. On past elections, I have been second in line. I pray, vote and then go to work. I won't spent too much of my day on the election because The office will be in training on a new EMR system. I will come home and sew this order til my eyeballs fall out, then pray and go to bed. Maybe we will know tomorrow night who our president is or maybe we have to wait til morning. I take solace in knowing also that God is on The Throne. So we are all Winners, before the votes are tallied. Thanks Mike & Laura, Great Post |

| My daughter who is 16 told me today she is afraid of who is going to win tomorrows election..... and as any good mom would do ... I spent some time easing her mind and reminding her of God's control even in our puny elections haha... but my words did not comfort me Mike.. and what I needed was what I have just read in this awesome blog....someone elses take on the "big" election tomorrow *big sigh* haha.... what in the world am I worried about?.... After all ... it's my Father that's in charge of it all. And My Father that will still be in charge after tomorrows elections are over. :D... how awesome is that? Blessings to you bro.... :0) |

cella jean, awesome song!!! Dan, yes, it is the church's job to take care of people's basic needs, not the gov't!! (I will never know where we got that silly idea!) Robin, I might also recommend Psalm 2. I had a wonderful conversation w/God based on Ps 2 today. Funny, it "just happened" to be next up on my reading list, hahaha! Megan, thx for hangin with us silly southerners (since you're from Canada, up north). Yes, today it's our turn to enter the polls, pray for us!! Terry - it would be cool to see ya at the polls neighbor (though you might be a little too far away...). Though I doubt we'll get there that early! |

Wow, these were the words that comforted me when my son died in 2001 so I have to tell you, timeliness and annointed for me.
If you go to an Oswald Chambers devotional, that scripture is on July 13 and he died on that day. It talks about not being bitter but look to the Lord.
Then I had a sister sing at his funeral what the Lord would have her sing and she sang of this verse without knowing from me.
Then when I went to pick up his ashes I told my husband I needed some WORD. I went home and pulled out a charles stanley tape that mom had taped for me out of many still not looked at. I had no idea what was on it but plugging it in he began with In the year king ussiah died....and I slobbered bawling through the rest of his message of eternal security.
I am super blessed by your message for the election but it touched a tender spot with me all over. love you guys. I voted absentee ballot for the unborn.....or McCain Palin.
oddly enough, I woke up feeling a need to pray for Obama and had not even thought of it I am ashamed to say, but to PRAY for a turn of heart toward God. His ungodly views against biblical principals is my only concern with him but he is loved by God and we must pray for his soul and that of his family.
Any thoughts to the untimely death of his grandmother? I thought perhaps she was spared seeing him lose. I don't know, but thought that |

| Juanita, I am so deeply appreciative of your comments. May your precious son be dancing joyfully in the presence of the King even now. And what a perfect illustration of the permanence of the King of kings and Lord of lords! His greatest and power transcend WAYYYY beyond what we see hear touch smell taste in this lifetime!! |

| Good post, Mike! God is sovereign. He has heard our cries and He holds all power over all His creation. Certainly a little election is not too much for Him! My prayer has been for His intervention of whatever is His omniscient will. When we pray for one particular candidate to win, are we not expressing our own wisdom over God's, and after having prayed and trusted God with the results, does it make any sense that we should concede defeat should the election not come out as we voted? The Creator of the Universe in His omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence, is on His throne. That is enough for me. As I cast my vote voicing my own finite opinion, my prayer was solely for God to orchestrate the outcome. I will rejoice in whatever outcome and commit to pray for whomever will become the leader of our country. |

| God reigned as the time of revelations was being written. But also to accept Christ meant back then that you may well die tomorrow. So, I look at this not fearing but at the same time people here in America are not well versed. 70% vote on emotion. Most of the people have no clue how the economy runs or what affects us. I have peace that I voted against an evil man with an agenda. But not everything that happens in this world is God's will. |

Always God is in control and I trust Him always... . I have no fear of that, all things are possible with God. anyway Love ya Mike, have beautiful day with Laura, and I am going to praise God that He loves us and He choose us, and how awesome is that... John 15:16 is a wonderful verse, out of many wonderful verses.... may the Lord keep you and your family safe from evil and harm, May He, keep provision in your home so that you will be blessed and can bless others, May He bless your home... Thanks Anthony, and Woman of Laughter! Let's all be laughing today as we go to the polls...it's all good! (How about that witness for the Lord?)
Carol, yes it does sister!
Marilyn, you are such a blessing, thank you so much!!!
Prophet_Elder_etc.... can you ask God why he would allow such an "evil" man to gain power? God's purposes are good. Can we rejoice in that? |

I love this, Mike! I have purposely stayed away from political rhetoric during this season. My inbox is full of slanted veiwpoints, and hostile last minute mudslinging emails that just make me sick--from both parties, I might add.
I love going to the polls though...meeting my neighbors there...waiting in line for hours...no mudslinging allowed, no hyperbole flying through the line of citizens, fellow countrymen, patriots; all patiently waiting to excercize our vote and celebrating our freedom to do so amidst smiles and small talk. No matter who takes the reigns, God is at the helm and our greatest blessing is still in tact...our freedom, our peace our prosperity. |

Birdie, I can report the same, "...inbox full of slanted veiwpoints, and hostile last minute mudslinging emails..." Although in our case, a couple of our Christian friends assumed that God was pulling for a certain party, and so we are getting mostly one-sided mud. And our polling place is a little far away to be seeing our immediate neighbors. I'll probably post a comment later describing our experience, if it's worth sharing. Lee, I'm singing hallelujah with you! Amen CindyLou! |

Great post Mike!!Remember everyone God's Word tells us... 2:1 I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men; 2:2 for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.
2:3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Pray for our leaders!!! |

Its true that one will come and another will go but it does not alleviate our responsibility to vote on the side of God vs. evil and right vs wrong...
Its like when a person asks you for money and in your heart of hearts you want to help them but you've been told your whole life that the beggar will use the money for some form of evil, cigarettes, alcohol,etc...heres the thing - what that person does with the help you tried to give is what they will answer to God for - what you answer to God for is did you ignore a human being or did you try to show Christian love .
Same with the election .It is your responsibility to vote the right people in and trust God to do what He does.
Who Would Jesus Vote? |

Thanks Dave, Todd - you guys are solid!
Jimmie, praying for our leaders is....a must!!
Dan, I don't know....maybe neither? Both appear to be striving for social justice, just in different ways. I've tried hard to avoid the shrill fear-mongering that seems so ubiquitous every election cycle. |

Just what I needed to read after I went and voted. This whole electorial process has had me a little unnerved.
I do have to remember that God is on the throne and He controls good and He even controls those who do evil, whether they think He does, or not...everything is for His purpose. He allows free choice and some of those who feel they are free are not really free at all. True Freedom is found ONLY in our Savior and Lord!
I am on God's side!
He will see His own through everything!
Whether he calls us to suffer for Him, or not!
He will be exalted!
May God's will be done in Heaven and on earth! |

| The impact of this blog to heal our hearts about the election is huge this morning as I go to the office where I know of several who voted for Obama. I want to behave myself, put my spiritual pride to death, love them and now my agenda is to pray for a miracle in the change of this ungodly man. He says he is a Christian but reflects bad fruit in his voting record. He can be touched and moved to surrender to Jesus just like we were. Totally sold out to God and become an incredible president....we must not get off our knees. I often use the term ON MY KNEES to speak of prayer. I have had painful knees since a child and mom used to put me in a hot bath to ease them. Recently, I felt convicted saying that when I don't, so I got down on my knees in my tiny camper and prayed. It was humbling. I don't think there is magic in it but it was a need for me to do it. I am not a huge woman but a decent sized 16 and there is no room to move in here truly. But there is room to get on my knees to worship my Lord and ask for our nation. If I have not said so before, my profile picture was taken by a woman in my church August 16 when I was in Washington DC with my church praying for America and the unborn to end abortion. I will not give up because of this election. We are serving a LIVING God. Alive...on the throne....amen and amen. |

Juanita has the right idea, and now I feel ashamed that I wasn't praying all along for his salvation -- just for the country to be turned back to God and for the people to make wise decisions. Now I will pray for our new president-elect to be brought to the Lord and receive the salvation he deserves.
Lord, touch his heart, let him see You through us. Amen |

How would Jesus' have voted? He wouldn't. He would have ministered to the teenage girl thinking about abortion. No need for a Pro-Life/Pro-Choice debate. He would have identified the root issue in the life of the homosexual pushing for Gay marriage, and delivered them. No need for that debate either. He would have judged the den of thieves on Wall Street and Capital Hill, and preached Good News to the poor. No need for worrying about the economy. He would have rebuked the hidden residue of hate in the hearts of "saints", "knowing their thoughts...". He would have wanted all nationalities to sit with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, in the Kingdom. He and cousin John would have focused their rebuke on leaders and authorities in the religious and political arena. Most of all, He would have implored His Church to focus on winning the lost through His Anointing and the Power of His Word. He wouldn't have let them hide behind the passing of laws.
How would Jesus' have voted? He wouldn't. He would have been too busy compassionately reaching those whose iniquity are the root of the condition of the nation.
But because we have been busy fighting for laws to make us feel safe and comfortable in our selfish "christian family bubbles of suburbia", and not out spreading His Word, we are put in a position where we have to vote in order to salvage what's left. And He has to vote as well.
God's Will was done in so many ways on last night. It takes a non-religious mind to see it. Except ye [forget what you think you know and] be born [all over] again, you cannot see the King[Dominion] of God. With last night's outcome, God was not only able to make a statement and bring closure to many issues that have plagued our nation, but He also has let the Church know that we can't hide behind the political process. We can put our hope in laws. He never said for laws to be His witnesses to the uttermost places of the earth. He sent us. If we go, we won't have to worry about corrupt laws even having a legitimate chance.
Let us look back in retrospect. If God's Will was done, then why did He vote in such a way? What did He see that I didn't see? What values have I overlooked that He deems as important? And what do I think is important that He doesn't think is priority?
MyChurch, I believe if we will abandon or way of seeing things, we can have room for a great revelation. Let's step out of our opinions and really ask God to teach us all over again as we examine the ministry of Jesus.
No one will die any time soon. But because of the Hope that is in the Gospel, we can all Live in a better nation. He came that we "might have Life..."
I'm looking for the Saviour in us His People and also in our President. Perhaps we the Church will rise up and obey the Lord Jesus. We will pray. We will Love. We will preach. We will heal. We will have change.
with Love, benjamin |

Thanks. I needed to read this today. Even though I've been praying for God's control in His Will being done, I have been afraid of the outcome. My daughter woke up and saw on TV who is our next president and said, "You got to be kidding me! We're dead." My husband woke up and saw who is our next president and said, "This has to be part of God's plan. Maybe he's the one that begins the end to our new beginning." God uses every person and every situation for His benefit. He will make His plan succeed out of what we may deem as evil. In the past, God has used evil people to accomplish what needs to be done. His plan is perfect, despite us not understanding it. This blog reminds us that we are not of this world. We only live in this world. It is our duty to stand firm in our faith in God, in God's control, and in God's plan. We do not know what that is or even understand it, but we do know that God's plan is always perfect. It's even more important for us, as Christians, to spread God's Word and show His love to people. Reminds me of the song by Group 1 Crew, Forgiven: "My only fear is there's not enough time to tell the world there's not enough time." |

MT4God, that is a really thoughtful comment, I deeply appreciate it. I also appreciate your daughter's concerns (and yours), and I share your husband's hope! We're entering a time of big change, uncertainty is not comfortable!! Is our new president the man of God's choosing? I believe so. But we also KNOW that Saul was God's chosen leader as well, despite the fact that God knew Saul would soon turn his back on him and fall prey to pride and insecurity. Saul was part of God's plan to "get to David". So Obama (who I would not consider a "man of God", any more/less than McCain) plays a part in God's plan too, which excites me. Is Obama the David, or part of God's plan to get to a David? No matter how you look at it, Obama is good for God's plan, which we know ends triumphantly. benjamin, thanks for posting your blog above. Though next time I'd prefer you post a link instead, lol. |

Aha! I think the Holy Ghost is telling us the same things. I thought today, what can I do now? I looked up Crisis Pregnancy Center so I can check out volunteering again. I went through training in 1996 before my late husband and I separated and I had to go back to work. When he died, I sent them a big check from his insurance and then moved away. I am back now. I can reach those who want to abort one by one if need be. Lou Engle and The Call has a great ministry for the unborn and anyone who can't volunteer can support financially and in prayer. Also, freecycle.org in all the states has folks giving away baby clothes. If you can get it to crisis pregnancy centers and help young moms or house one. I am in a camper right now so I can't, my sofa is my bed. It is just me and my hamster, Gideon-mighty man of valour, here. So brainstorm, what can you do for the unborn. |

He is a true companion. I used to have a cat named Abraham-friend of God. I also have a cat at my other house where my husband is named Rahab because she believed God to live after a terrible battle when I found her.
Years of biblical names, guinea pigs Esau and Esther, Magdelene and Amos. Peach faced lovebirds after Moses' parents Amram and Jochebed and Bartamaeus another guinea pig to name a few. Oh and Esther had a litter and they all died but one female so I named her Haddaseh after her mom |

| A few years ago, me and a coworker got maternity clothes for a girl who was going to abort and we spoke to her about the Lord but she is wiccan. She was going to give the child up for adoption then abort and in the back and forth of it, I told her I would help her in any way that I could. I went with her for an ultrasound and she found she was carrying a girl. She said "This child wants to live". She named her Taelyn and she is about 5 now and precious to me. She married and had another son to add to the brood she already had. Recently I bought some Mary Kay products off of her. Her eldest daughter is 15 and has become a Christian. I witnessed at the Mary Kay party and bought the basic package and then some additional makeup. It really is good stuff and I am not the type to use a lot of frills about myself. Anyway, she called me her most devoted friend. I am praying Erica into the kingdom. One life spared and more to the kingdom. Yes? |

Alright, I have Grizzy, AKA The Grizza, who I am praying that God will heal from cancer; then Sam, my heart; there is Sydney, Wiggles, Foxy Lou, and Newby,...all dogs, then Anna, who my husband named...it means 'another cat'; then there is Cream Puff the cat that thinks he is a dog; of course we cannot forget Dukey Bird...short for Bird wayne...who was foraging in my stallion's corral and jumped into my husband's hands. I will not name all of the horses, but our two fillies that were born this year...Mighty Mouse and Spidey.

My husband calls Rahab ...Rehab because we spent so much to rehabilitate her. I love animal lovers and the names are just names for showing affection in our own way. Thanks for the vote.
By the way, I was telling someone else. I don't understand this election result but I was praying and praising on the way to work and asking God why. A lady passed on my left and her license plate read GODS WILL.
It is all in His plan and we are not aware of the details yet.
Oh, and I have a dog that was healed when I prayed after they gave her no hope but sent her home for a few days so I could prepare to put her down. I prayed and fell asleep praying. She had spent three days at the ER vet to the tune of a thousand bucks to the penny. That was April two and a half years ago and Sugaree is still happy and healthy. They and her regular vet said it is a miracle and makes NO sense. I will pray for Grizzy. Sugaree is a grateful dead song and she was my son's dog...thus the name. She is 10.5 years old now. |

Thank you, Juanita!
God healed my other dog, Sam, in may 2007.
I am praying this for Grizz, and I sure do appreciate your prayers!
Mike, hope you do not mind us sharing animal stories on your blog:):):):) |
