We are members of the Garner Church of God, located in Garner NC. We run around 320 on Sunday mornings. In regards to ministerial activities in our church, my wife (The Doc) and I teach the GAP ministry class on Sun mornings during S School, and she teaches the same group Wed nights as well. I teach the adult Wed night Bible study, except when I'm preaching a revival somewhere or our pastor needs to be in there. Since I am one of our state's reporting evangelists (NC-Eastern), I am not always there, as I actively minister both to the "body of Christ" and am very active in preaching in prisons.

Joel, that sounds cool. May I ask what GAP stands for?

I have no "ministry" per se at the church. Mine is all "out there". In my office where I run a biblically-based business, with my customers in Washington, DC and around the world, and throughout the Body through our book store. My church gives me the anchor I need in the storms of life...an anchor where I know I can get good teaching, prayer, and support...and I offer the same when appropriate...it is absolutely the most wonderful church I have ever been a part of...ever.

Mike-

GAP is the term we use for the demographic ages of "highschool grad/18 thru married or age 30 - and single". It also could be called "young adult/college/career" as well. We call it "the GAP" because in this stage in life, you're not yet considered an "adult" yet you're not in highschool anymore... the decisions that you make in this "GAP" will have life-long implications and consequences. We make the scripture relate to their lives in very REAL and practical ways. It's a much overlooked yet nuch need ministry in the body of Christ today. Check out the info on the GAP on our church's profile and on my wife's profile (the Doc) as well...

Hey Aaron,

I have a beautiful place in my heart for Sunday School teachers.  My husband gave his heart to the Lord during a Sunday School class in NYC, and my father and I gave our hearts to the Lord after a Sunday School class in PR back in 1978.  Sunday School teachers rock!!!!

voince_in_dc,

Were in DC is your business?

Well I clean the church, but that's really a job.  I almost always wind up heading the cleaning commitee whenever there is a function.  I play the guitar and sing as the Lord leads/whenever asked.  But it does seem like those opportunities have been mostly at other churches/places lately.  I used to teach Sunday school, but I got burned out.  And I realized that it was not what the Lord called me to do.  I do fill in whenever they really need someone, since I do have the ability.

I moderate an email prayer request list for my Bible Study group.  Also I assist with the computer network of the church, help set up pc's and stuff for the staff.  When my work schedule allows I als assist with the editing and duplication of the sermon for that day to be distributed on CD's and placed on the Internet.
