Breath-taking! I was looking at a calendar put out by the National Weather Service the other day, it had a bunch of pictures of cloudy skies. No two were anything alike. Reminded me that God is infinitely creative!

I have a degree in Physics and am a Christian.  Knowing all the things that have to be JUST RIGHT for so many things in nature to occur like this makes me believe even more strongly.  Beautiful picture and a great way to start the week!

Hi Brother Patrick, my new friend!

Wow, Voice!  I love it!  Have you been there?  Did you take it?

Rosie, I'm glad you looked at Faithrock's picture.  I clicked on it one day just out of curiosity, because it had no idea what the picture was.  But it's awesome!  Anyone else who hasn't seen it, click on Faithrock's photo (6 comments above) repeatedly until it fills the screen, and be blessed!

Revelation 4:1-7 1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

This photograph reminded me of this verse in Revelation.  Stunning.....

Great verse, Linda!  If the heavenly rainbow is more beautiful than the one in this photo, I cannot begin to imagine it, but we are in for a spectacular eternity!

I am in Idaho and this year in early June we had a rainbow around the sun... ever heard of that? It was pretty cool. I know someone who got a picture of it, I will see if I can get one and post it.

Blessings,

Mike

Mike, wow!  No, I have never heard of that and would love to see a picture!  Is there a reason these things happen in Idaho?

Thanks for the link here Kathy... and your comments, saw this picture last year and have been using it as my personal photo ever since... as I agree... it reflects some of he majesty of God's handiwork.  I read it is a rare fire rainbow... there is a picture of it in the National Geographic. Wanted to know more so I did some research on it... June 19, 2006—It looks like a rainbow that's been set on fire, but this phenomenon is as cold as ice.

Known in the weather world as a circumhorizontal arc, this rare sight was caught on film on June 3 as it hung over northern Idaho near the Washington State border (map of Idaho).

The arc isn't a rainbow in the traditional sense—it is caused by light passing through wispy, high-altitude cirrus clouds. The sight occurs only when the sun is very high in the sky (more than 58° above the horizon). What's more, the hexagonal ice crystals that make up cirrus clouds must be shaped like thick plates with their faces parallel to the ground.

When light enters through a vertical side face of such an ice crystal and leaves from the bottom face, it refracts, or bends, in the same way that light passes through a prism. If a cirrus's crystals are aligned just right, the whole cloud lights up in a spectrum of colors.

This particular arc spanned several hundred square miles of sky and lasted for about an hour, according to the London Daily Mail.

There is also some info on it at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumhorizontal_arc and some photos on this one: http://www.webshots.com/search?query=Fire+Rainbow
