8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.
I was watching a sermon this morning on TV by Dr.Fred price and the sermon was about suffering with Christ. I'm going to do my best to write down what he discussed. he discussed so much i didnt get to write it all down
do we suffer with Christ or for Christ? God does not want you to suffer for him. think about this how is it going to benefit God if you get sick and die? how does it help God if they come and foreclose on your house and you have to live on the street? or if you lose your job. how does this help God? most people think that they are suffering for God just because God allows the suffering.God has to let happen what ever we let happen. God doesn't control it we do. just because God lets things happen doesn't mean that God decreed it to happen. its because he created us with free will, then he gives us his word to influence our choices to help us to make the right choices, he wants to make sure that what ever choice you make is your choice. thats why God will let us suffer. its not his will to let us suffer. he has to let us suffer if we let our selves suffer. he doesn't want you to suffer. how many of you parents want your children to suffer any thing? a good parent wouldn't. I know i want the best for my child. but could any of us want any more for our children then God would want for his children? so why would God want us to suffer he doesn't. he says suffer with him so how do we do this you will find the answer in the 4 gospels just read and follow the life of Jesus and find out how he suffered. then we will know how we are supposed to suffer with him. this means what ever he does we should do. i have never found one single reference in the bible where it says Jesus was ever sick. Jesus had to be able to get sick, if he couldn't get sick then he wasn't tempted at all points as we are. because the bible says he was tempted at all points as we are yet with out sin. he had to be able to contract sickness but he didn't. but the devil had to try and shoot it at him the way he does us or he wouldn't know what we are going through. he had to know what its like to go with his needs un met, but he never went with his needs un met. in fact he was responsible for taking care of 13 people, his self and his 12 disciples. he never went with his needs un met. and fear never over took him. yet he was tempted to fear. temptation is not a sin, it is not a sin to be tempted the sin is when you give in to the temptation. so how did Jesus suffer? the only suffering Jesus went through is persecution and persecution is the only suffering we are meant to go through. thats it. persecution by his own people they lied on him talked about him like he was a dog. called him every thing but the son of God. plotted against him to take his life away from him. persecuted him when he did good they accused him of being in league with the devil. you know that will hurt you when your trying to help some one and they say aw you did that with the devils help. not any of that persecution ever stopped him from doing his job. persecution is the only thing that you can not get out of suffering.
to any one reading this blog how have you sufferd with christ?

1:29 For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. 1:30 We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it. The NIV rendering uses the preposition for. I'm guessing the idea is that it's a privilege to live for him, whether we find blessing or suffering. And Christ himself promised suffering to those who would follow him (Luke 9:23-24). He said "but if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it." My thought is that he has done so much for me already, if suffering for him brings him glory, then it is my joy.
But then, you are right about suffering with him too!!
3:10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
If Christ is with us at all times, we suffer with him, we share everything with him, every experience whether joy or sorrow. ~mike

1:8 Do not be ashamed then of testifying to our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel in the power of God, 2:20 For what credit is it, if when you do wrong and are beaten for it you take it patiently? But if when you do right and suffer for it you take it patiently, you have God's approval. 2:21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 4:19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will do right and entrust their souls to a faithful Creator. 5:9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world. 1:6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. 1:8 Do not be ashamed then of testifying to our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel in the power of God,

| I'm thinking persecution and betrayal. Jesus suffered both. I think betrayal is more painful than persecution. Great post!!! |

thank you Mary Ann i think Fred price did good on this sermon i don't always believe the same way he does but there are times when he can make you see thing more clearly. i was thinking about what he said about Jesus never getting sick and i think that the reason he didn't get sick is because he never sinned
