Thom and Michele are a middle class couple who (along with their children) moved into a low income and crime filled neighborhood in Nashville a couple of years ago. They came not to gentrify, but to serve.
Thom and Michele have made many friends in the neighborhood. Many of the adults call them or come and see them when they are struggling with a problem. Thom and Michele listen, give them what they have, and/or pray with them. They have helped so many of their neighbors.
The neighborhood children love Thom and Michele. They come by their house at all hours and Thom and Mechele welcome them warmly. They have regular activities for the neighborhood children on their front porch. They lead the children's group at a neighborhood church, Berry Street Worship Center -- http://www.mychurch.org/berrystreetworshipcenter. They help a church in Brentwood put on a Saturday "Kids Club" in the neighborhood once a quarter, which attracts as many as 80 children.
It is amazing the difference that one couple and their family are making. If you would like to know more about this amazing couple, go to:
Thank you for putting out this kind of information.Giving is what we as Christians"do".Praying for someone to be clothed and then not giving them clothing is useless.Praying for someone to be fed and them not feeding them is useless.Seeing Believers in"action"is awesome. It is real proof that Jesus is alive!!!Thanks Steve.
