| Tired as a Dog -NOT- It's a Dog's Life |
|
| |
Tired as a dog. That is how I feel right now. I've been a busy beaver today with not too much to show for it. You see, being in a wheelchair and having a degenerative neuromuscular disorder slows things down; DRASTICALLY. But I don't let that slow down my love for life and the Lord!
I spent 90 minutes this morning putting a message together for one of our members here concerning "spoke guards" for my wheelchair. I found out they have a business that might be able to custom design something for me. We'll see...
Another 90 minutes were spent putzin around the 'puter looking at E-mails from Internet discussion forums that I frequent. I belong to about 30 although I only vist 3 on a regular basis. Those are in addition to MyChurch which is my home community and is not "just" a forum. And for the record, I have never had a MySpace page.
And then it was time for lunch. Heated up some leftover lazy lasagna. That took awhile preparing the plate of food. It's not real easy rolling around in a manual wheelchair with a dish in one hand and trying to maneuver around the kitchen with the other hand all the while trying not to run over any dog feet (eight of them) or cat feet and tails (ten of them) since they are all in the kitchen seeing if I drop any food on the floor. You think dogs beg; our orange cat that looks like Garfield is worse than the dogs when it comes to begging for table scraps; especially Italian foods.
Then I thought I'd surprise my wife by loading and running the dishwasher. That process took an hour to complete. It's not easy for me to see down into the bottom of the sink to reach all of the spoons, forks and knives (ouch). Remember, I do all of this from a seated position. If I can't reach it sitting down, I don't get to have it. That must be why all of the "goodies" are kept on top of the refrigerator! Not fair! And I washed the dishes! Maybe just one little candy bar? Please?
So that brings me up to now (4 PM EDT); already an hour into starting this blog topic. It will be "quitting time" here in Maryland and I have not done anything for Joe today. But that's the advantage of being a volunteer; you can't get fired. At least I don't think you can.
Not to let anyone leave this blog disappointed that I did not have any great words of wisdom to impart on anybody, I'll share a few pictures I snapped today.
Under my nose, this is what my dogs looked like this morning while I was putzin around the 'puter:

I was holding the camera over my head for that view. That's my fat belly and the edge of my desk that the two lazy bums are sandwiched between. I have their blanket on my lap for them to lay on. Now that's a dog's life and I ain't gettin any. But I do LOVE these two pugs! As for the cats, they pretty much ignore me all day.
Here is another view of the doggies fast asleep while I surf the Internet.

Moving our gaze up slightly, we start to see my very clean desktop. Of couse, it is all in how you view things and my glass is half full!

The name of the game here is to keep everything within easy reach so that means everything on the desktop. Coffee cup, notes, camera bag, diabetes testing supplies, flashlight, sugar pills, insulin shots, calendar, telephone, lint roller, 25 foot tape measure, sugar pills, canned air, Post-It notepad, and two rawhide bones; one for each dog. There is a lot of stuff you don't see too. Off to the far right and out-of-view of the camera lens was my can of WD-40. Gotta have that handy too!
A little further up, we find some things just at the edge of my reach zone:

This assortment includes my QSL cards (KC3VI - Amateur / Ham Radio), a few of my web books, another lint roller (unused), two of my my Bibles, my ham radio tech books and the now-famous jar of Peter Pan peanut butter with a lid bearing the date code of "2111" on it. We did not hear the news about that until after my wife and daughter were having "issues" with their digestive tracks. Now we know what salmonella poisoning is like. Yuk! Too much information?
And all pictures made from a sitting position. Good things I have long arms to act as a camera tripod. My arms have slowly grown longer as I stretch of the dogs to reach the computer keyboard. I'm sure this is a great ergonomic seating arrangement. (NOT)
Yup, definitely not a dog's life. It is now 5 PM EDT and I'm just about ready to post this. I told you I was sllooowwww! I'm tired as a dog and my dogs have been enjoying my services today. I think I'll go steal a cat's nap while my two dogs are not paying attention to me.
Yikes! I said cat... Wrong word to use around dogs. So much for my c-a-t nap!
:-) Dave
P.S. If you submitted a new church today and you have not had it approved yet, blame it on me. I dropped the ball. And I'm not doing any more work today! Well... Not until after dinner anyways. LOL
P.S.S. My mind is fried and my arms are aching. 'Tis my daily life but I hope I blessed somebody today. At least perhaps got a chuckle out of you?
P.S.S. If you got this far, how about giving me a STAR? Thanks! |

Thanks for the picture, Pastor Dave! I love dogs that think they're human and sleep on their back. Too funny. :) Btw, is that me you're chatting with on your Dell flatscreen? That looks very similar to my screen. I"ll take a pic for a future post. God bless! |

| Carol, yes that our IM's. I blurred the screen so Joe wouldn't be able to see that I was complaining about him not working twice as fast to make up for my less than half-speed approach (not to mention a day of goofing off). LOL |

| I just knew that Sue, my faithful colleague helping me to get churches set up here at MyChurch.org, would come to my rescue! And since she got the list of requests down to zero, if you are reading this and have not submitted your church if we don't already have it, please do so now. (We want to keep Sue busy so she stays out of trouble) LOL |

| I love the way animals can just totally relax and sleep. I have eight cats and they can get into some of the most relaxed (and amusing) positions I have ever seen. If only I could relax and sleep like they do! Thanks for giving me a laugh. |
