17:17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
It's quiet here, my best friend is still asleep, and I began pondering what a true friend is to me. I believe we all have standards for friendships. I believe we've all lost friends who didn't live up to those standards we set or we didn't meet their standards. I've learned to share my standards for friends with them upfront......it's quite simple, love me and be in it for the long haul.
Having said that, it's easy to love through the laughter, but what about when there's tears or anger? Or that friend isn't going the direction we feel they need to? I've been there many times, and my sleeping friend is the perfect example. There are times I don't like my sleeping friend, but I still love him. I get past that time of dislike, because of the love. And I know he feels the same way :)
I'm not good at casual friendship, because I give my whole heart. Maybe that's a flaw, I don't know?
How many people say "I love you", but do you really mean it? It kind of becomes a thing to say, because people think we should.
So, what are your thoughts on friendship? What are your standards? Just curious :)

I can't say it without meaning it.... like hugging - can't do the little huggy patting on the back - and the Hollywood kiss on the cheek peck and hating them on the inside... I lived that life....I know how they really work..... I am sparing with my praise, my compliments, and my words of affection.... because they have to be geniune... the real deal....and for me (my bad) I can love with God's love easier than I can "like" someone..... trying to be a better human..... |

I have a few friends in my inner circle who are what Anne of Green Gables would call Bosom Buddies/Friends. They are the ones give me "Freedom Friendship". I don't have to remember their birthday, anniversary -- don't have to call them every certain amount of time. I can even say "no" to things -- and yet they still love me. They are the friends I can put on the shelf for months at a time due to life changes, but when I call, they rejoice to hear my voice. They are the ones who, when they've been absent for a while, call or write simply to say, "I miss you and I hope we'll have a chance to get together again soon." Those people, who understand how life can throw you curve balls, are like a cushion of grace in a very bumpy world. :) They are true gifts from God! My favorite characteristics of true friends are: overcomers through Christ who love to laugh! |

mrs W: I'm a hugger......my whole family is. Can't stand the pat and kiss kiss either, lol... although I do respect ppl who have the "my space don't touch" zone up.......
I guess I'm different though on the praise, compliments and words of affection.......I can always find something in someone to give those for......maybe not in the area they are looking for it......but I can always find something good.....and I'm free with telling them.......praying that it lifts them or even opens their eyes to something they didn't see in themselves.....I've learned that from Ken, because he has done that for me.

I am anothe hugger..I used to hate people touch me..but God helped me learn to appreciate and now i adore giving people BIG hugs =D.
And Grammy..those kind of friends are so few and far between...they are blessings =D...I guess for friendship standards..its nice to know that despite lifes twists and turns..which make it difficult to stay in touch and remain connected...its such a relief to have those people who wont take it personally but will stand with you in silent prayer...and then once God has settled everything down..they are ALWAYS there with a smile on their face and and a lovely hug...like you never left =DD

| Friendships as far as I'm concerned are number one: people that will tell you the truth. Number two: stick by you through the hard times as well as the good times. As for the luvey-dovey stuff? If they love you with the love of the Lord, then dive for cover when you've got a problem or hit the buffers in life, forget it! Its false love. Love is an action, not a feeling. |

| I am soooooo grateful to have you as my life mate and best friend! As you know i am somewhat of a loner, i guess because all of my close friends have been the wrong type! I am happy now with the friends that i have, just have to be more discerning in my choices. |

For God So Loved The World He Gave...........So I Give.
I'm very emotional about love & friendship. I love hard and Friendship is for life. I lost one of "best-est" friends in the whole world on March 7th. We had been friends since 7th grade. I'm high maintenance to love. To love me is a package deal and in the package comes my new journey. On this new Journey I need my friends to LOVE me unconditionally. Sometimes I'm up and sometimes I'm down. With my friends I pray, cry, laugh and listen. I need the same favor from them. I think Love should be Fun, Playful, An Adventure. I'm praying that God send me a new love when the time is right. He has already sent me new friends and that's you guys. YES, I Do Love You. |

When I love... it with my entire being. Good, bad, hard, tears, grief, the bit. Have I been hurt? Many, many times. But it hasn't killed me yet.
Friendships are fickle though. Depends on the people you decide to welcome into your life. It doesn't always go two ways. Words are words, and people are people.

| Great Blog, i am a hugger and i love to love on people, i just feel like there is power in a human touch, and have been told that my hugs make people feel like everything is going to be alright, and i believe that because i asked God to show His love through me to His people and He chose to put it in my hugs and I have seen people delivered from so much stress and hurt with the hug that God has given me. |
