| Hangers - A Great Temptation |
| |
4:15 For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as `we are, yet' without sin.
I understand this verse, but let's be real..."in all points"...really?
OK, here is my confession. I hate hangers. When I do laundry and pull clothes out of the dryer to be hung up, the hangers all tangle together. There is no way to grab just one hanger. Never. They are always tangled. Always. If I shake them, several will fall on the floor. There is no way to grab just one hanger...unless there is only one hanger to grab. Hangers drive me to frustration and to be tempted to sin. Many a hanger has met is treacherous death in the wee hours of the night as I try to finish laundry. Many hangers have been kicked across the room because "they" wouldn't cooperate.
Why is it that in the simplest things of life, our real selves become visible?
I am 100% confident Jesus didn't have hanger problems, but I am 100% confident he was tempted with loss of temper and self control. Oh, that I can do better. I may be able to when I work really hard at it, but my real heart is revealed in the wee hours of the morning in the laundry room when only God and I know what is happening...I guess it is better that way than being shouted from the rooftops.
Some day I will be able to say I have no problems with hangers...but until then, God please help me in my weaknesses so I can be strong in You. |

| First thought...thanks for sharing DC, I have the same problems with hangers. I have been known to throw one or two also. That temper...bad thing! |
The only problem with the stackers, which look like a great idea, is that someone (read: me) would have to take the time to remove hangers from the closet and stack them one at a time.
Guess it goes to show that if I take a little extra time, then some of my problems would disappear. There is probably a lesson in there somewhere...the lesson of the hanger stackers...ummm... |

lol Voice! You might try the plastic hangers like the colored ones in the picture. They are so much kinder than the wire ones! For me, yes, hangers are annoying, but Christmas tree lights are my real nemeses!

ROFL...I love the smiley!!!!
Yeah, I use the plastic ones, too...the main advantage of them is when you get angry enough to throw them across the room, they bounce and don't scratch the wall...hehe!!
Your comment about Christmas tree lights made me laugh this morning. I have a couple of bags of lights that are so twisted they can not be undone - at least by someone with patience like mine - so I use them as replacement bulbs. Glad to know I am not the only one!! |

| Want to wake up with a smile on your face? Sleep with a hanger in your mouth! :-) |

| Now just "hang on" a minute here! What is it you guys are doing to the poor hangers? Mine don't get jumbled up... |
| Jen, I talk to them, stroke them, sneak up on them, then when I try to grab one to hang the clothes on, the others all reach up and grab it and start to wrestle me for it. I win always, of course, because I overpower them, but then I have to pick up several from the floor. It happens not once, not twice, but every time I go for a hanger...maybe I need prayer... |
| I've gotten angry at hangers too. The plastic ones break with a "snap!", but the metal ones just sort of twist around and make me even angrier! |

We keep one metal hanger in our house for when we break into someone's car and steal their stereo. Other than that, it's plastic. Maybe my hangers are chill cuz they've got lots of breathing room. In my laundry room I have two closet bars/poles/whatever-they're-called hanging one above the other. The top one is for empty hangers; the bottom for clothes on hangers. (I hang up everything that can be hung up.) |
| Perhaps that is my problem. The plastic ones are nice at home, but I travel a lot so I use some heavy wire hangers and the kids still have smaller hangers. So, maybe it is that the hangers don't get along and they fight each other. Have to think about that one... |
