I am SOOOO bored and white and nerdy that I decided to post a blog that explains how to take a screenshot of your computer--a clean one, without needing any camera of any kind--effortlessly. This is a useful trick if you need to send a picture of something to a friend or family member. Here's whatchado: 1) Get the picture set up the way you want (for example, if I wanted to take a picture of my home page on MyChurch, I would open Firefox and go to the home page) 2) Take your eyes off of the screen and look at the keyboard. Look for a key with the words "Prnt Scrn" without the quotation marks. It could also be "Print Screen" using the same "no quotation marks" rule. 3) Press it, you dip! 4) Guess what? Nothing happened! See? See? I'm following your blog, Captain Obvious, and it didn't work see? See? NOTHING HAPPENED AND I CAN PROVE IT! *presses the key a billion more times in frustration* 5) Nothing happened because Windows doesn't let you know that you took a screenshot. So...what do you do now? You just pressed Prnt Scrn and now a whole 200KB of your RAM has been taken by a screenshot that you can't save. Fear not! Here's whatchado episode 2! 6) Click "Start". If you're running Windows Vista, like me, click the "Start Pearl". You know, the blue thingy in the bottom left corner of the--there you go. 7) Click All Programs, then Accessories, then Paint. If you're running Windows Vista, just type Paint in the search box and press enter. 8) Click Edit, then click Paste. If you're not afraid of keyboard shortcuts, just press Ctrl+V instead of clicking Edit then Paste. On the other hand, if you're scared to death of keyboard shortcuts, just click Edit then Paste. And remember, you didn't read anything. 9) Voila! Whatever the computer was doing at the (exact) time you pressed Prnt Scrn appears in the picture field. Only one more step left! 10) Save the picture by clicking File then Save. Save it wherever you want, name it whatever you want. Okay, you officially have a screenshot that you can print out or use for reference! This can be useful if you're ever on the phone with tech support. ;) |
