| Thank You Sir, May I Have Another... Musings on Initiation Into Catholic Church |

It has taken me all Eastertide and then some to put my thoughts and memories of the experience of RCIA and Holy Week 2007. Reason: For three weeks I was in complete vibration mode. Then I had an overwhelming fear of blogging on anything remotely relating to the Catechism out of deathly fear that I would inadvertently write something incorrect, or unorthodox or heretical. The intimidating role models of the hundreds of great long running weblogs in the Catholic Blogosphere. Last and most... the fear more I examine the intense, joyful experiences and feelings of Holy Week the faster the experience would fade into cheap nostalgia. That was Saturday, April 7, 2007. Holy Saturday and the day of my complete and full initiation into the Catholic Church. The idea was not to think of initiation and First Communion as the height and summit of my life as a Catholic, merely the beginning. Getting a piece of sanctifying grace with each partaking of sacraments (Eucharist, Penance, Healing). Almost becoming greedy for that grace with each taste of Eucharist. Becoming overwhelmed with the responsibility of recieving in a state of grace, or conscientiously being Eucharist to the world after recieving.
Say Amen, and not Thank You Sir; may I have another. |
