| Daddy, look at me! |
|
| |
33:13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; 33:14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth- 33:15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.
After reading this I was reminded of my children, how they always say, “Daddy, look at me!” when they want to show me a new skill, a newly discovered talent, or a conquered fear. Daddy’s attention gives them the affirmation they crave, and assures them of his good pleasure when they achieve.
The writer of Psalm 33 pictures God Almighty the same way. Not as someone watching out of curiosity, not as a strict overseer, nor as a casual passerby. No, he sees God as One who “considers everything we do.” What love, that God watches us tirelessly, we whose hearts He formed and knows so well!
Those who don’t know Him often think of His watchfulness as a negative thing, as though He’s always trying to “catch us in the act”. But the truth is, God really isn’t watching merely to tally our sins. Scripture says it is because we occupy a special place in his Heart (Psalm 8:4,5) and because His love for us is boundless (Psalm 36:5, 108:4), reaching to the heavens!!! We command so much of His attention, oh the joy to please such a Daddy!!! |

| He has been and is the only "Daddy" that I know. I am glad that I can call Him my Father and He calls me His son. |

Mike,
This is truly a wonderful post. I'm sorry though, but in our house a trip to a medical facility was usually in order when one of the kids yelled that my way. :0).
Have a great day,
Randy |

Mike, I'm about to finish a book today that reflects what you wrote..only amplifies far beyond what I ever considered. It's a very unusual book (fiction), but it will most definitely get you to thinking "outside the box" of our human concepts of God. In fact it just might offend some folks.
Alice wrote a blog about it http://www.mychurch.org/blog/33252/The-Shack---It-blew-me-away

I don't know what it is, but I'm on a real daddy kick right now, having just blogged about my daughter and son less than a week apart, and now this!
Charlie, from here I'll go on to Alice's blog, and possibly on to Alice's book! Offended? I doubt your daughter would read anything that would offend me.
Randy, I will pray for your family- haha. lol |

| Thanks for that Mike, but then we only have one left at home. Oldest daughter is married with two sons of her own. Son has moved out on his own, so luckily we are past that point. Youngest daughter (age 16) is a dancer so hopefully we will get thru the season without injury. :) |

| Love this, Mike. I grew up with a constant soundtrack, "Be careful little eyes what you see, there's a Father up above, looking down (in love), so be careful little eyes what you see." Anyone else know that song? It has many verses, but the point driven home to me was "he's watching to zap you when you mess up (hence the reason the 'in love' part is in parenths). It has taken a number of years to let that go. In fact, I still hear it sometimes. I needed this reminder that the 'in love' part is the most important! He is watching over me IN LOVE! Thanks. |

Yup, this one too. Don't you love our Daddy!?! He not only watches and considers, but "forms our hearts!" This is what I marvel over the most... He is everything I have ever needed in a Daddy and so much more. |
