This kind of attitude is the epitome of ignorance.  I have never found it productive to debate a person of this mindset, as I have been unable to locate their minds.  We can, however, discuss this kind of ignorance with others, especially our youth, so they will not fall prey to any such attitides.

Unfortunately the attitude of this e-mail is alive and well all over the U.S., in hundreds of hate groups.  A great whistle-blower and combatant of such groups is the
Southern Poverty Law Center.  If you are looking for a way to make a difference or just to be well informed, check them out.

Though dangerous, this kind of blatant racism is usually recognized as extreme and "wrong" by the more "educated" and "refined."  Perhaps more dangerous is the racism of those who would never call themselves racist, or perhaps even see themselves that way, like in

When I was in college, I had a black roommate.  My dad nearly had a heart attack when he first met her, and told me he could arrange for me to get a different one.  He was definitely a racist, so I grew up with that mentality in my family...however, I do not share his thoughts.  I became good friends with this girl, and actually hung out with her group of friends, all of whom were black.  It was a strange feeling being the only white person in with a group of black people.  You cannot help but see the color of another person's skin.  But I try not to look at them any differently than I would if they had blue eyes, or brown, etc., black hair or red hair, etc.  I try to look at their heart and the type of person they are.  I also have a black niece-in-law...married to my white nephew.  They now have a white baby boy who is darling.  But I wouldn't think any less of him if he were black.  Unfortunately, we live in a society where racism is alive.  I think of the KKK and the atrocities they have committed.  And that is only the tip of the iceberg. If only we could look at each other as just people...

The Bible is not the least racist except that there is the race of believers and nonbelievers. That's it. I would say however, that the group that Kathy alludes to above is a fierce, atheist, anti-Christian group that constantly falsifies information and is not reliable and is very Marxist. Let's be careful in throwing out devils that we don't invite even larger ones in, Kathy. The Bible says we should be discerning and the Southern Poverty Law Center is an enemy of the cross.

Recon, please justify that last statement.  They are not specifically a Christian organization, but I know of no organization anywhere that has so diligently fought prejudices and racism, even with constant threats on the lives of those in the organization, and with hundreds of legal victories.  Morris Dees, although I think he can be an alarmist at times, has led the organization tirelessly to expose and convict racists all over the country.  Rosa Parks was affiliated with this organization until her death.  I am aware of isolated statements by a former lawyer there, calling the organization the "Jim and Tammy Baker" of the legal world, but the organization is respected as the top of its line all over the country.  When national racist issues come up, it is the SPLC that people look to for answers.  I'm proud to be a member of the SPLC, but would welcome hearing why you have arrived at your opinion, here or by private message.
