To add a comment to "Discipleship or Evangelism??"

Good word Steve!

The big challenge I see, is to teach people to offer their bodies to God as a living sacrifice and then to begin to renew their minds and therefore be transformed.  There is a huge difference between "doing witnessing" and "being a witness" or between "doing evangelism" and "being an evangelist." [the word, by the way, actually means to be a proclaimer of the Good News.] When we really begin to see that we are an Ambassador of Christ through whom God is reconciling the world to Himself we come to more fully appreciate the fact that we must understand who we are in Christ and who Christ is in us or the works that we do will be ours and not His.

Blessings!

Discipleship and evangelism go together.  What is evangelism without discipleship?  Not very fruitful.  I hear you loud and clear brother. The challenge is not how many you can reach but how many you can bring with you.  I wonder if we stand before the Lord as ministers and say look Lord I have brought 1,000 souls with me, I wonder if He would bring up the 2,000 souls I wounded in accomplishing my goal of reaching 1,000. That is a powerful thought and I think you are on the right track, we need to reach as many as we can for the Lord, but we also have to be willing to leave the 99 or in this case the 999 and go get the one that is lost or wayward.

EarthenVessel--You are so right!  Not just offering their bodies as a living sacrifice, but literally imitating Jesus!

Lisa_Todd--You are very welcome for the prayer.  And thanks for the encouragement.  I love the folks at New Life and want to continue to grow close to God with all of you.

BrotherTodd--Don't know if you are familiar with the organization called The Navigators.  But my buddy who works with them says the first step of discipleship IS evangelism.

Like Lisa said, keep doing what you are doing, because it is certainly working.  I love this church and my church family.  And you are a great example of discipleship and evangelism.
