This is a season that reminds us to be thankful to God for His blessings throughout the year. Truly thanksgiving should be celebrated everyday. Not with a stuffed turkey and all the trimmings but in our hearts and with grateful lips.
When we are thankful we acknowledge God's providence in our lives. We recognize His hand of blessing in the good times as well as His hand of comfort and healing in the difficult times. God is good. He is to kind to be cruel and too wise to make a mistake. Yet trials come, even in the lives of His beloved children.
When we are thankful we see Christ as triumphant in every circumstance. No, He did not bring the trouble to our lives but it did not take Him by surprise. Our troubles come as a result of the sin cursed world we live in. Jesus said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. “
A thankful heart is a heart filled with faith. Faith sees past the present set of circumstances with assurance that God will us it all for His own glory and for our ultimate good. A thankful heart has a way of healing itself. Grief may knock and the door but it cannot stay; for where praise is there is God and where God is there is joy. |
