| This Good Day |

I heard one of my favorite songs on the radio on the way home from Winco this afternoon. Its a simple song, but always chokes me up: THIS GOOD DAY Morning sun and morning glories Pouring down the hill, Through my window I can feel the ocean breeze.
Noisy sparrows fill the oak trees Swallows can't stay still, And in the glad commotion Lord, You speak to me
Chorus: If the rain clouds come Or the cold winds blow, You're the one who goes before me And in my heart I know
This good day It is a gift from You. The world is turning in its place because You made it to. I lift my voice To sing a song of praise On this good day.
The first time I heard this song was year's ago. I was having one of those mornings, and I drove to work with an angry, bitter attitude. This song completely turned around my heart. Ever since then I get a warm and grateful feeling everytime I hear it. What an awesome God we love and serve. He created everything for us to enjoy. Every good thing around us is our gift from Him. How often do we really think about that, or appreciate it? How much more often do we get caught up in our momentary difficulties and bothers of the day? This very day, if you are breathing, He made it for you! However miserable our situation, He loves us and wants us notice Him and praise Him in our circumstances. That day I remember feeling like "how dare I get so cranky about this - God made this day for me". What a powerful message. Thanks to Fernando Ortega for that one, and to our awesome and loving God for each day we have here. You go before me and my life belongs to you, good days and bad ones. |
