Voice in DC just shared with me that www.amazon.com has this book available at a used price of 1 cent!  You just pay the shipping!  That's quite a bargin.  He also said that this book is out of print.  So get it while you can!  If you click on the picture of the book on this page, it will take you directly to the page where this book is sold.

Sue is correct. Amazon is linked into several warehouses around the country and they only list a handful of new ones available. Larry Burkett books are excellent, timeless guide books. While some have dated examples in them now, they are still good solid Biblical reference books.  We use to have a whole section of his books in our store when he was alive because he was publishing them often. Always ask for a workbook when you buy one of the books. Some had great workbooks that gave you templates to use for some of the guidance he offers in the books. I do not know if there was one for this specific book.

Uh...good bog Mike. My point is that the first and primary career for a woman, with children, is the home, period. At least that should be clear! LOL.

Recon77,

One thing to remember is that this book was published in 1995.  So things have changed since then.  I think the title would be different if it were published today, but the content is still relevant for today.

I do not need to read the book... God has led me to stay home.  Thank you Lord.

Sue,

What has changed since 1995? Just curious.

Recon,

It is just my opinion, and I have no proof whatsoever to back it up, but I do feel that mankind in general gets much more offended over the use of certain words these days.  People seem much more sensitive.  I think 9/11 played a huge role in this.  I think 9/11 changed the way American's think in many ways.

This seems like an interesting book. I too have struggled with the decision to stay home. I first considered it when I was pregnant with my second child. I was working full time as a manager which was a stressful enough position but to top it off, it was in retail so I had to work alot of nights and weekends. Plus I was going to school on the days that I got out early. I hardly saw my family and when I did they were getting ready for bed. I finally realized what I was doing when my 5 year old daughter asked me with tears in her eyes why I had to go again? She said she missed me and begged me to stay home with her. I felt so horrible that I did stay home from work that day. Then once I had my second child I found it hard to afford day care for 2 kids. So I started working part time as a freelance makeup artist. I worked 2 - 3 days a week but that was not always guaranteed. I am still doing that as well as going to school at nights and taking online classes. I like this better because I can spend the entire day with my kids until 6pm when my husband stays with them while I go to class. The only issue that we run into at times is when I don't get enough hours at work that month and we end up late sometimes with bills. But that is an issue that I got tired of fightening myself so I decided to give it to the Lord and let Him guide me through it. Thanks for the information. =)
